Customer Review Summary
Friendly staff are the most repeated draw, with several diners describing servers who checked in on the meal and went out of their way to look after tables in the heat. The food gets specifics too: the beef roast, king prawns to start, mushrooms and halloumi, a sharing steak cooked perfectly, and sticky toffee pudding or creme brulee to finish. One breakfast reviewer singled out the large full English and its hash browns. The caveats are real. The outdoor seating is described as very overcrowded, service was slow on a hot day, and one diner found the duo of pork a little tough with under-done broccoli. Another reviewer, who booked for a guest with a disability, reports being seated by the garden door and having to keep closing it, cleaning their own cutlery, finding one chair filthy, and receiving tap water instead of still. Dogs are welcomed inside and out, and one reviewer notes dog treats on the menu.

“Ramblers Rest is in a nice location with good parking facilities available. The inside restaurant has a cosy atmosphere. On this occasion we sat outside. Unfortunately, the outside seating area is very overcrowded. There is hardly any space between tables and it felt quite oppressive, especially on a very warm day. The food itself was OK. I've had better from other restaurants within the chain. I had the duo of pork, very well presented, but a little tough. The broccoli, in my opinion, was under-done. On this day the service was very slow, but we were not in a rush, so that wasn't a bother. The staff were rushed off their feet and in the heat it must have been a tough day for them. They were all very helpful and polite. It just might have been an off day as far as my meal was concerned, so may well be worth another visit.”

“A lovely spot, tasty food, with a well priced lunch menu. Staff were all lovely, especially Sophie who went out of her way to look after us in this blistering sunshine! See photos as all the outdoor seating was shaded and made for a very pleasant lunch spot!”

“Very nice country style pub without being in the middle of the country. Not the cheapest place but you get what you pay for. Nice settings, quality drinks. Families and dogs are welcome there, even got dog treats on the menu.”

“Enjoyed a very nice meal with my wife and daughter. Genuinely one of the nicest for a long time. The pizzette, camembert, kamp, pork, mac an cheese, creme brulee and crumbles were all excellent.”
