About The Old Mill
The Old Mill is a canal-side pub at 15 London Rd in Berkhamsted, set in an old mill where a waterfall can be seen from the garden room and from outside. The building holds a bar area, a separate pub section and a restaurant area, with several garden spaces and a private dining room for groups. Old advertising memorabilia, old-fashioned signage and framed portraits decorate the interior. The kitchen cooks pub classics, including salt and pepper squid and a Mac n Cheese burger. The roast arrives with a large Yorkshire pudding, broccoli, parsnips, carrots, cabbage and cauliflower cheese. The bar stocks a wide selection of beers and lagers, and dogs are welcome. Themed steak nights and burger nights run as offers through the week.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the food, with the Sunday roast, the tomahawk steak and the salt and pepper squid singled out. One diner calls the roast tasty and a good portion with a large Yorkshire, while another says the roast dinner is huge. Close behind are the Mac n Cheese burger, hot honey halloumi, chicken wings and the chicken kebab, plus a meze plate. The beer selection draws repeated praise, and several mention a warm welcome for dogs, along with the garden room waterfall and the old advertising signs and framed portraits. Staff are described as friendly throughout. The caveats are mixed: one reviewer found the fish and chips looked oven ready and the shepherd's pie meat bland, though its mash was praised. Another called a chicken milanese basic and poorly presented, one found the football on the TV very loud, and another says the pub section can get noisy. One breakfast diner wanted drinks to arrive before the food, and parking is called limited. Several families mention birthdays, and one looks forward to the playground returning in summer.

“Went for my wife's birthday with 3 guests. Food was OK but so basic, I had Chicken milanese which just came looking like 2 separate items on a plate. Presentation was poor at best. Sorry only low review.”

“Cat and team are absolutely amazing! Booked my 30th birthday here and Cat made the process so easy. The staff worked so hard which help the night run smoothly. The best selection of beer I've seen in a pub.”

“Just took advantage of a 2for1 Sunday roast offer. Very tasty and good portion size. Broccoli, parsnips, carrots, cabbage, and cauliflower cheese with your meat choice layered over the top and covered with gravy with a large Yorkshire on the side. Son had chicken skewer kebabs which he enjoyed. There's special themed midweek offers, steak nights, burger nights etc which we aim to return and try in the future. Also has a good selection of beers and lager.”

“We have come for a late lunch here twice and both times have been great! Such lovely atmosphere, great beer selection and fab staff (shout out to Mollie!) We have a nervous dog who can get a bit worried around new people and other dogs but we were made to feel so welcome and they made a huge fuss of him! The food is really great. Highly recommend the Mac n Cheese burger! The roast dinner is huge but I'm still so glad we had starters (hot honey hallumi and chicken wings... both delicious!) We can't wait to come back a third time!”

“We had a lovely meal on Thursday for my husband’s birthday. The tomahawk steak was delicious and very filling. Great value too. The kids were happy and are looking forward to coming back in the summer for the playground and outdoor dining. Staff were friendly. Thank you”
