Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast comes up most, with reviewers describing a generous portion that arrived quickly and tasted delicious. Close behind, a steak night draws comparison to dedicated steak restaurants, and a steak sandwich and salad at a midweek lunch get praise for value. Others single out the camembert, a seafood linguine, a Super Green Salad with courgettes, pineapple and avocado, and desserts described as incredible. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, and one party stuck waiting for a rescue truck after a breakdown says they were made to feel welcome. The main complaint concerns busy Sunday service. One diner waited almost 40 minutes for plates to be cleared and skipped dessert, saying the pub needs more staff. Another found the food less fresh than usual, with forgotten greens on the roast and a cold burger, though it was remade and the staff tried to put it right. One reviewer closes with a working mums lunch of two courses, coffee and a mini pud.

“A fab working mums lunch with a great value menu, the best food I’ve ever had there and lovely service. We had two courses with a generous steak sandwich and fab salad, then coffee and mini pud. A perfect spot. Thanks”

“Wow! If you haven't been, go and if you've been, go again! Especially when the sun is out. After having my nails done in Gerrards Cross, I decided to go for an extended drive around and done a u-turn to see what was on offer! And let's just say, I wasn't disappointed. I'm all about local and giving to the smaller businesses rather than the big chains. Especially in rural/under populated areas. I can't say anymore that what I've already said. But I will be going back ♥️”

“Had a great experience at The Gate in Chorleywood. The atmosphere was lovely, the food and drinks were excellent, and all the staff were friendly and attentive. A special mention to Jazmine, who looked after us brilliantly and made us feel really welcome throughout. Nothing was too much trouble, and her service really helped make the visit enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“I was in the area so made an impromptu visit to the Gate as it suited my need and timeframe to have a quick bite to eat. Having ordered my meal and seating myself in the bar area, in no time at all my Sunday roast arrived. The food was well presented, tasted delicious and the portion size more than generous. The staff were polite, accommodating and eager to please which made for a wonderfully pleasant dining experience.”

“Amazing pub with the best fresh and tasty food and the most amazing service. We broke down and spent pretty much the whole day here waiting for our rescue truck and they made us feel so welcome and at home. Thank you so much.”
