About Flying Horse Clophill
Flying Horse Clophill is a gastropub in Bedford, Bedfordshire, set in a barn conversion with a beer garden that gives the pub a daytime setting of its own. The kitchen cooks traditional pub dishes and Sunday roasts, with a pork duo served with a jus, haddock and chips, and pie on the menu. A specials menu lets diners choose the base for the fish dish, and a three-course set menu runs alongside it, with a separate Christmas menu. The bar mixes cocktails, including a Pina Colada, and a bottomless brunch is offered for those who want a longer meal. The restaurant area sits within the traditional pub setting. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
The pork dish, a trio in one review and a duo with scallops in another, is the most named main, though reactions split. One diner found theirs great, while another found the jus stone cold, and it came back on a plate after being replaced. Close behind are haddock and chips with crisp batter, a pie one visitor enjoyed, and halibut on a chorizo, green bean and pearl potato base. Camembert and prawns draw praise as starters, and one reviewer recommends the Pina Colada. Most describe the staff as lovely, chatty and welcoming, including a waiter who put a gluten-intolerant diner at ease, and one calls the three-course menu good value, though another notes higher prices. The main complaint is pace. A family birthday lunch had starters arrive well after the booking time and stretched on for hours, and Father's Day made it harder to get attention. Another couple had their pork meal replaced with repeated apologies, then enjoyed the sour crumble and lemon tart.

“Had a great meal. Both my wife and I had the Haddock and Chips; my American cousin had the pie, which he really enjoyed. The batter on my fish was crisp and tasty, and the fish was delicious. The chips were nice too. The staff were professional and made sure we were happy with our meals.”

“Visited The Flying Horse on Friday night for dinner with the family. We had a wonderful time! My sister and I shared the Camembert which was perfectly cooked and beautifully garnished. I also had the halibut from the specials menu (pictured) where you can choose your base from a range of options. I had the chorizo, green bean and pearl potato base which was absolutely delightful. I tried a range of cocktails throughout the evening including the Pina Colada which I highly recommend for all cocktail lovers out there! The team did an amazing job and a special shout out to Paris and Jess for looking after us. Thanks Flying Horse, was a flawless evening! We’ll be back x”

“We visited The Flying Horse in Bedford for lunch while in the UK for an event at Toft Manor, and it was a real highlight of the trip. A group of us were looking for a proper English pub experience, and this place delivered on every front. The service was attentive and friendly from the moment we sat down, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere made for a really enjoyable, relaxed meal together. Everyone in our group left happy and well-fed. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and want a genuine local pub experience.”

“i came here for father's day with my family and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. obviously as it was father's days, it was busier so the it was harder to get the attention of several but we understood why. it was also quite hot on the day we went to being inside was a little warmer than we'd like but we also understood it's not their fault. the staff all did brilliantly to cope with everything and we are definitely coming back!”
