  “Came along with family. Didn’t realise I had booked this pub thought I had booked another (lucky mistake) But was pleasantly surprised when we pulled up. The atmosphere was lovely, really nice outside area. The staff were friendly . We sat outside and the waitress explained that it wasn’t table service and you order food at the bar as only table service inside, that was absolutely fine. Our food was out with in 15 minutes of ordering.very good value for money, not expensive at all. The honey halloumi was really yummy. We will definitely be back to try one of the roast dinners !!”

  “We recently had our wedding at The White Horse in their stables and garden. Louise, Kisha & the team worked tirelessly to ensure our day ran smoothly. We had a couple meetings in the months running up to the day to plan the finer details. The food was absolutely incredible which we had so many compliments on it, including the canapés, an Italian buffet and a dessert station. The Pimms and Peroni cocktail hour was a big hit. All our decor was set up for us and they relieved plenty of stress so we wouldn’t have to worry. I would highly recommend this venue for an event.”

  “Had a lovely Sunday roast. Portions were generous, with large Yorkshires, and lovely meat and veg. Staff were lovely, especially the lady who greeted us and great service. Lovely atmosphere inside and out and a great setting. Really made a day out after visiting nearby Shuttleworth museum.”

  “Had been out for the day and called in late afternoon for a meal. Absolutely delicious 😋 . Chose rib eye, with a side of garlic mushrooms, Diane sauce and onion rings. Apple pie for pud. All very tasty. Steak tender and perfectly cooked. Wonderful end to our lovely day out.”

  “Second visit but was disappointing as not such a good experience as first. Pate starter served with flat bread and not as advertised on menu. Breaded mushrooms literally that with garlic dip and no garnish or salad. Long time between starter and main being served. Fish and chips only warm when received. Burger and chips: burger fine but chips also only warm. Bill presented with optional service charge included as a starting point. You have to decline if you don't want to pay. Not the way it should be. Good service will attract good rewards.”

  “Valentines set menu - had ran out of some of the choices by 7.15pm I can imagine this was because most people had selected the Camembert due to the other choices on the menu not being particularly appealing. The main meal was then cold (chicken/sweet potato mash - portion size was extremely small as well) and the cheesecake desert was frozen. The table next to us also couldn’t eat desert as was frozen. Another table had ordered a trio of desert sharer and they couldn’t believe what they had been given there was only enough for one mouthful per selection for one person should definitely never of been advertised as a sharer, we felt bad for them as they had also ordered steak for main and when they received it on the table they sent it back as it was completely cold. Unfortunately it seems the menu choices and the volume of food hadn’t been organised very well, also some of the waiters had told customers that some of the shared plates were single plates, seems they were just as confused. Such a shame, unfortunately would not say it was a great valentines experience. The positives were - The young lady they had singing, I believe was Cara Beard and she was fantastic. Also the waitress/front of house (potentially) called Hannah was absolutely lovely, very apologetic, friendly and bubbly, she is an asset to the company.”

  “We hired the Function room for my husbands 85th birthday meal with about 29 family members. Louise and the team were fantastic. The room was beautifully decorated. Food was fantastic compliments to the chef and the staff who made his day special. Everyone had a lovely time and commented on the room and the lovely dinner. Thank you so much Louise and team you did a fantastic job.”

  “We visit this pub quite often as we live locally, but I have to say that things seem to have gone downhill recently. The food quality isn’t what it used to be. We came in recently for Sunday lunch. My husband’s meal was nicely prepared, but my butternut squash Wellington was visibly burned. How this was allowed to leave the kitchen is beyond me — surely someone should have noticed and decided not to serve it in that state. I sent it back, and about 20 minutes later my replacement arrived — unfortunately, by then my husband had already finished his meal. For dessert, we ordered ice cream, which arrived half-melted. I had to call our waitress back and ask for it to be replaced. The Knickerbocker Glory also looked like it had been made earlier, left out, and then put back in the fridge before being served to us. I requested a replacement for that as well. When I raised these issues, the waitress gave me attitude and even rolled her eyes before bringing the refreshed desserts. Overall, it was quite a disappointing experience compared to the high standards we’ve come to expect from this pub.”

  “My partner and I had our wedding reception in the barn outside the pub, and it was fantastic! Louise was so easy to work with and was consistently organised, which made planning seamless and stress-free. The wedding packages are also very flexible, right down to choosing what food you want. Leading up to our event, Louise was excellent at coordinating the set up of the room, whilst also ensuring that everything was how we envisioned. During our event, the bar staff, servers, and kitchen staff were all so accommodating, polite, and efficient. The whole evening ran so smoothly and us and our guests had a fantastic time! I fully recommend The White Horse if you're looking for a venue that's oozing with character, has great staff and management, has delicious food and drinks, and will ensure you have a night you'll look back on fondly forever ❤️”
