About Rose & Crown
Rose & Crown is a traditional pub at 89 High Street in Bedford, with motorhome spots that have hook-up and on-site showers, so visitors travelling by motorhome can park up and wash on site. The chef cooks homemade pub food, with pies on a compact menu that includes vegetarian and pescatarian options. Desserts are listed on a blackboard, and Sunday lunch is served. The bar pours a range of beers. Regulars make up the locals' side of the pub, and visitors from nearby villages are welcome too. The pub opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the food at this village pub, singling out the chef's homemade pies, a steak cooked to perfection, and a chicken burger with chips that one diner would happily eat a whole bowl of. A cherry bakewell cheesecake is described as light, sweet and a huge portion. Close behind is the welcome: reviewers say the landlord, landlady and staff are friendly, that locals and visitors alike are made to feel at home, and one new parent describes feeling comfortable on a first meal out since having a baby. Several mention a good selection of beers, and one notes decent vegetarian and pescatarian options. One motorhome guest describes a hook-up pitch with showers that were functional and very hot, though they say the showers could do with modernisation. The one negative review says the landlady seemed disinterested and sat back down after handing over the dessert menu board, so the couple skipped dessert and coffee and said they would not return, though they still called the food delicious. Another reviewer describes a Sunday lunch that was nice as usual.

“It was my first time out for a meal since I’ve had my first baby and it was such a lovely experience. Everyone was so nice, especially a lady who I think was called Jacky. She made me feel really comfortable and I had an amazing time.”

“Happened upon this pub as we’d been caught in traffic & needed somewhere to eat. It’s a great locals pub but also very friendly to others as we discovered. The landlord & landlady were very welcoming. Food was excellent & generous. Good selection of beers. Recommended”

“If I lived closer, this would be my local! The owners are incredibly friendly, as are the patreons. It is great to see a pub with atmosphere! Full of laughter and people having a good time. The food, was fantastic, I had the chicken burger which was delicious and full of flavour and those chips... I'd happily eat a whole bowl and then some of those! Cherrybake well cheesecake was my pudding choice and again, what a delight it was! Light, sweet and a huge portion. Needless to say, I left feeling very full and happy! And will be back.”

“Such a shame we loved coming here but now it just seems like the land lady rachel has lost all interest she always seems to be sitting down you feel like your interupting her when you need somethingwe thought about desserts and coffees but after giving us the dessert menu black board she went and sat down again we felt as though she didnt really want us there. Although the food is absoloutely delicious we will not be coming back”
