About Star
On Luton Rd, Star serves as a pub and restaurant with a menu spanning 131 dishes, from Tomato Soup and Halloumi Fries to King Prawn Cocktail and Salt & Pepper Squid. Sunday roasts are also on offer, with turkey and lamb among the choices. A quiz night brings a regular fixture to the weekly schedule, and dogs are welcome throughout. The garden provides outdoor seating for those who prefer to eat outside, and a step-free entrance serves visitors with mobility needs. Free Wi-Fi is available across the space. Waiters and waitresses bring food and drinks directly to the table, and reservations are recommended, though tables are occasionally adjusted if not ready on arrival. The pub opens daily, and food for those eating off site can be ordered for takeaway. It operates as part of a wider chain, with the traditional British approach carried through its full range of dishes.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday and Christmas roast dinners form the recurring centerpiece of visits here, with reviewers praising the shoulder of lamb, turkey dinner, and hand battered cod and chips, though the roasts themselves draw mixed verdicts, from lamb that "melted away from the bone" to one Christmas lunch described as tasting reheated with rock hard potatoes and parsnips. Close behind, several diners single out attentive, friendly staff and a warm atmosphere with oak beams and a garden area hosting live singers. Also mentioned favorably are the Baileys espresso martinis and a generous pate starter. The most persistent complaint is long waits, with one visit taking an hour and twenty minutes and another two hours for food that arrived cold or overcooked, alongside occasional order mistakes and understaffing on busy Sundays. One reviewer also describes finding a fly in their food, and another recounts a bar patron making an unsettling spiking remark. Despite this, many say they will return, with one party thanking named servers and booking again for the new year.

“Went for a beer and some food, all good. Nice service. A good local. Shame didn't get to play poker on game night. There's also a full lineup of entertainment in the months ahead. All I can say is use it or lose it.”

“Stopped here for a Sunday lunch without booking, the pub was busy and restaurant fully booked but plenty of lovely seating available in the bar. Greeted with a really warm welcome when ordering drinks from the bar by a lovely tattooed bearded bald chap who we remembered from our first visit a few months back because of his excellent character and customer service. The food was absolutely delicious, the roast Turkey dinner was exceptional as was the starters and desserts. Could not fault it at all. Also very reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning!”

It is also has a lovely garden area and is also dog friendly, we will definitely be returning, we would definitely recommend visiting”
