Quick info
About Thai Balcony Restaurant
Thai Balcony Restaurant is an independently run Thai restaurant at 1 Seven Dials in Bath, with its dining on the first floor. A curved balcony holds tables for two, each under a large overhanging bell, which gives couples a spot of their own. Behind it, a large indoor dining area carries Thai decoration and interior design features. The kitchen cooks curries and stir-fry dishes, and chicken fresh spring rolls appear on the menu. A set menu is offered for the whole table, so a shared meal can be ordered in one go. The restaurant is open all day, with an extensive lunch menu.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the flavour and freshness of the food, with the set menu praised for rich, aromatic curries and a fresh stir-fry, garlic prawns and tamarind duck singled out at lunch, and one regular coming whenever a noodle dish is wanted. Friendly staff, the beautiful Thai decoration and the balcony tables overlooking the people below come up repeatedly, and several say dishes arrive quickly. Opinions on the cooking are not uniform. One couple found the dishes watery, the rice plain and some food tasting microwaved, and another said the chicken fresh spring rolls lacked flavour. Service draws mixed remarks too: one reviewer noticed short-staffed waiters, and another sat for a long stretch before anyone came over until they asked.

“The food at Thai Balcony Restaurant was really delicious and fresh! The staff were very friendly, and the restrooms were extremely clean. Service was a bit slow at times since they seemed short-staffed with waiters, but the overall experience was great. I'd definitely come back again”

“We had a wonderful meal here, the food really is delicious. We sat inside and the staff were polite, and we had a lovely catch up with family. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu! There was a great selection of dishes and deserts.”

“Great Thai food, friendly staff, and a lovely atmosphere. Everything is fresh, full of flavour, and served with a smile. Highly recommend - it’s one of our favourite go-to places for authentic Thai cuisine. Dining on the balcony makes the experience even more special!”

“My wife and I were on a break in Bath and thought we'd give this place a go. We went in on a Wednesday and ordered a set meal for the two of us. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was large and decorated nicely. Unfortunately, this wasn't for us really. I have been to quite a few Thai restaurants and this one didn't really make the cut. We really wanted it to because the staff were so great but we found the dishes a little watery and the rice quite plain. Don't get me wrong... This is no way the worst Thai I have ever eaten, but by no means the best. I'd like to think it was because it was a quiet day for them but some of the food tasted as though it may have been microwaved, then had some extra ingredients thrown in afterwards. Personally, I wouldn't visit again, but if you're hungry and want to stop off for a quite bite, perhaps this is the place for you. We booked on a Tuesday but there was plenty of space so I'm not sure if you need to book a table early week.”

“I love Thai food, and this place makes me realise why. The food is presented well, comes out quick and is so delicious. The hospitality we received from staff was also outstanding. Do not get me started on the interior decor too, it is just beautiful we even had to take a few pictures with some of the design features. You absolutely have to go here if you visit Bath. It is just amazing.”
