Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the food, with the steak, the garlic chicken schnitzel with dirty fries, the Moroccan spiced chicken skewer and the fish finger sandwich singled out by name. A Cajun chicken skewer and an avocado and grain salad also draw praise, and one visitor liked the Wingman beer. Close behind is the staff, described as welcoming, friendly and helpful, with bar staff offering advice on local places to visit. The back room and function room are used for a wake and a memorial celebration, where the buffet was called delicious and the staff kind and compassionate. Several mention fair pricing and a relaxed atmosphere, and one notes a recent refurbishment. The main caveat comes from one reviewer who found the gammon and the ultimate burger overcooked, the spicy chicken barely noticeable and the beef dripping gravy delicious but thin. The same reviewer found gluten free options very limited, with ice cream the only dessert and not guaranteed. A Christmas Day lunch for a table of eight, with food that arrived hot and in good time, closes out the praise.

“We called in the horse and jockey because the hotel bar was closed and quite frankly we were very happy. We were greeted by Sue who was lovely and the beer was on top form , I had the Wingman, the food was also top notch and fairly priced. I would definitely recommend a visit, thanks for looking after us Sue”

“Food was absolutely spot on, John the chef did a fantastic job the steak was perfectly cooked as medium can be awkward but he got it spot on. “We were greeted by lovely staff, who were very helpful. Downloaded their app, but couldn’t make up my mind, too much choice, all looked stunning. I ordered the garlic chicken schnitzel with dirty fries and side salad, it was so nice, fresh, deliciously tasty. My other half had the Moroccan spiced chicken skewer, and thoroughly enjoyed it We finished with Tirimissu, ice cream and a flat white Definitely worth coming here, and we’ll be back soon”
