“We had lunch at The Drum and Monkey in Alderley Edge on 8 May to celebrate my mum’s 89th birthday, and it was a lovely experience from start to finish. We booked an early table and received such a warm welcome from Simon when we arrived. We were given a choice of tables, with each area beautifully decorated and authentic, full of character and charm. Tom looked after our table and was excellent. He knew the menu well, answered our questions with ease, and made us feel very well cared for throughout. The food was delicious, full of flavour, and clearly prepared with care. Clean plates all round, which says everything. We enjoyed the conversations with Tom as much as the food and the setting. The little thoughtful gestures and additions during the meal added extra sparkle to an already very enjoyable experience, and made Mum’s birthday lunch feel personal and memorable. We will definitely be returning, and next time we hope to try the wonderful garden and terrace area. A real gem in Alderley Edge.”
