Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise generous portions of traditional pub food, with fish and chips and beef and pork roast dinners named repeatedly, alongside a lamb shank, a thin pizza, a massive burger and a steak sandwich. Close behind is the friendly service, and several note staff stayed accommodating even when the pub was busy and looked run off their feet. Many visit around Manchester Airport, and a few mention real ales, an open fire and a beer garden terrace with views of aircraft. The complaints are specific. One diner describes a pre-booked Christmas meal that felt rushed, with starters out before a late guest had sat down and a dry, overcooked roast turkey served with sprouts. Another found the chicken, ham and leek pie so overcooked the pastry tasted like burnt cardboard, after a long wait and with very noisy children in the background. One happier reviewer advises upgrading to loaded fries with the meal.

“I ordered the chicken, ham & leek pie, my husband ordered the chicken burger. He said his was good - and mine should have been - it wasn’t though because it had been so over cooked the pastry had the texture and taste of burnt cardboard. It possibly explains why we waited the best past of 45 minutes to be served. The background sound was like that of a children’s nursery - lots of very noisy kids. Ate, paid & left”

“I was catching an early flight the next morning so I was staying up in a hotel in Manchester for the night on my own. Picked this pub as it was quite close to my hotel. The pub was really busy, but they fitted me in so I could get some food. I had fish and chips, really good portions and the food was tasty. Staff were friendly and accommodating even though they looked half ran off their feet.”

“Our 2nd time visiting this pub when flying from Manchester. Great location, friendly staff and good food. Slightly expensive for pub food but the portions are generous. A lovely little beer garden/terrace with good views of the aircraft. We will visit again.”

“I went to Tatton Arms whilst I was waiting to pick up my wife and sister in law from Manchester Airport. I arrived at lunchtime and even though I did not order anything personally the food that was being delivered to the other guests looked very appetising indeed. The staff were pleasent and very friendly. Whilst I was waiting I was very fortunate to take a video of the actual plane my wife was on.”
