  “Dined here a few times. Food has always been good, but Unfortunately my mixed roast on Sunday 6th was far from that . The beef was thinly cut and fatty, the pork was tough. The beef was supposed to pink but far from it. I doubt whether I’ll chose a roast again. Pity. Such a great venue.”

  “Really enjoyed visiting Pant Yr Ochain near Wrexham. Great gastropub with a cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, and very good food. The portions were generous and everything tasted fresh and well cooked. Nice selection of drinks as well, and the whole place had a relaxed countryside feel. Would happily visit again.”

Moving from a relaxing drink inside amongst the historic architecture to an outdoor lunch by the water makes for a seamless and highly enjoyable afternoon. The Food: The menu is refreshingly modern, and the execution is flawlessly capable—everything ordered was great. The kitchen handles contemporary dishes with a level of care and sincerity that ensures every plate hits the mark, making it an incredibly reliable choice for a group. The Value: While it is a premium destination, the experience is made all the sweeter when it is a work trip and the company is footing the bill. It represents a fantastic return on investment for client entertainment or team morale. The Surroundings: Beyond the superb lakeside garden, the location has some wonderful quirks. Having the model railway place next door (the charming Borras Park Model Railway) adds a unique, nostalgic character to the setting that looks like brilliant fun.”

  “Met up with family today(their local)our first time visiting this beautiful old pub and we weren't disappointed. On a a beautiful day you could easily spend hours relaxing in the beautiful beer garden in front of the lake and if you have kids they'd be perfectly safe have a whale of a time exploring or playing on the park or even the mini railway. The staff were very welcoming and helpful with two GF relatives in the party infact the menu was extensive for people GF intolerance. The menu changes daily but thr do have staples thst stay on they just change flavours ie like the pie or burger toppings. I have to say the menu was amazing today and I had the Porchetta and my husband had the GF Ham, leek & chicken pie it was flippin AMAZING!!!! now for us if you creat good wholesome food , please do do the same with your desserts, don't be lazy and buy in. WELL they didn't disappoint i can tell you, all homemade!!! I had the triple choc brownie and hubby had rum n raisin sponge pudding. This is a must visit place, we will definitely be back.”

  “Just been for lunch following a recommendation. Having never been to the area we were unsure where to eat before heading home and we honestly couldn’t have been happier The garden is a beautiful setting with plenty of shade from the sun and a gorgeous view. The food was delicious and not expensive and the service was on point! A real gem of a place”

  “Very smart place and so peaceful. The atmosphere is cosy and family friendly without being noisy. The food is amazing and the grounds outside are beautiful to relax. Highly recommended and ample parking. Great variety of dishes and desserts!! The fish and chips are excellent and the sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce and ice was devine.”

  “The Pant Yr Ochin is a charming venue that, despite being part of a chain, has managed to retain a genuine personal touch. We were greeted warmly on arrival, though there was a slightly odd discussion about tables involving a party of 10 that momentarily shifted focus away from us. I shuffled uncomfortably for a moment, but we were soon shown to our table. From that point on, the meal ran like clockwork. Our server she was absolutely charming, and my steak was perfectly tender. When I requested fries instead of the chunkier chips, it was sorted without question – much appreciated. My only minor query was whether the blinis served with the smoked salmon should have been warm. It was more of an internal debate with myself, but I tend to think they should be! Overall, it's a lovely spot with an air of special occasion even when it isn't one. Thanks for a great experience!”

  “Love this place...been many times. Never had a bad meal or drink here. Yes it is a bit more expensive but the quality is excellent. This time had the private dining room for Christmas menu with friends. Food and drinks brought direct which was nice. Room decorated nicely but was very quiet and felt a bit out of it. To be honest, missed the buzz of the downstairs area as much more festive, so would book for downstairs next time. Still one if my favourite places!”
