About The Boat Inn
The Boat Inn is a riverside pub on Erbistock in Wrexham. The building dates back to the mid 17th century, and its tables sit alongside the river. Inside, the pub is arranged as several rooms and sitting areas, including a River Room, with wood burning stoves and a courtyard out the back. The kitchen serves sea bass as a main and a seafood curry, and the dessert list includes Bakewell tart. A private dining room is set aside for groups, and dogs are welcome. The pub also keeps an overflow car park for visitors who arrive when the main one is full.

Customer Review Summary
Seafood curry is the dish diners name most, described as full of flavor and often ordered alongside the sticky or crispy beef salad. Close behind are the sea bass, the traditional Sunday beef dinner served pink with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and red wine gravy, and a spread of Korean chicken, fish and chips and beef tartar. Bakewell tart and coconut mousse come up for dessert. Reviewers note generous portions, even for the small plates, and an extensive menu with something for everyone. The riverside setting is raised repeatedly, with outdoor tables by the water, a courtyard, wood burning stoves and a warren of rooms in the old building. Staff are consistently called friendly and welcoming, and service is described as efficient but unintrusive. The only friction mentioned is a remote location reached by narrow lanes, and one reviewer's short wait for table service on a busy day. Another party rang at the last minute and was still squeezed in during the busy lunch rush.

“My daughter and I visited in June 2026 after seeing it featured on social media, we combined the trip from Penmon Point with a visit to Castell Dinas Brân prior to arriving. Everything about The Boat was first class. I had the Seafood Curry and it was amazing with many different flavors present. My daughter had the Crispy Beef Salad and this was also a fusion or flavors. We will be visiting again in 2027 when we return from Florida.”

“Had booked a stay in the area and having already visited another riverside pub not too far away previously, decided to give The Boat Inn a try based on the rave reviews it has. We had booked for Sunday lunch on a very pleasant sunny day. Our table was reserved for 1pm and when we arrived, the place was already very busy! A really good sign in my eyes. Thankfully they have an overflow car park which was a godsend! We were greeted at the entrance to the pub by lovely staff and shown in to the bar for drinks. Our table was in the River Room which has more of a restaurant vibe to it and we were lucky enough to bag a table next to open doors looking out onto the river. The decor in the pub is entirely in keeping with its history and a really nice environment to dine in. Our drinks arrived with our menus and there was a wide selection of options to choose from so I doubt anyone would be left struggling to make a food choice here! We opted for the traditional beef dinner which is served pink. This was accompanied by the usual array of crisp and fluffy roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, swede mash, braised red cabbage and tenderstem broccoli. This was sat on a film of rich and flavoursome red wine gravy. The plate looked pretty as a picture without being fussy. The taste was quite simply superb. This pub really deserves the reputation it has built up over the years and is a great place to while away a couple of hours. The inside and outside spaces are very well appointed and the staff are super friendly. We'll definitely be back when we're next in the area, if only to sample some of the other culinary delights they have on the menu.”

“Dating back to the mid 17th century and probably much earlier this beautiful riverside inn has been welcoming and refreshing locals and passers-by for centuries. Our aim has been to preserve all its charm, nod nostalgically to the past and remember that proper pubs are always about people and atmosphere while gentling evolving into what a 21st century country pub should offer in terms of food, drink and service, as well as facilities.”
