About The Ffrwd
The Ffrwd is a pub on Ffrwd Rd in Wrexham, where the food is written up on a chalkboard menu of specials. Large homemade pies anchor the kitchen, and a curry night gives the pub a second food draw. Sunday roast is served in large portions, which makes it a regular reason to come for a meal. Offer nights add another angle, with a free dessert included on selected mains, and one special offer night took cash only. Visitors arriving by car will find the car park opposite the pub, where it is easy to miss.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is the main draw at this country pub, with reviewers calling the roast the nicest they have tasted, praising the perfect meat and lovely veg, and noting the large portions. Close behind are the chalkboard mains, including a chicken and king prawn risotto, halibut with garlic king prawns, pork loin in green peppercorn sauce and a Chicken Kiev. Others spotted large homemade pies going to tables, and one enjoys the curry night. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful even when busy. One reviewer found every table booked for food and advises booking. Smaller gripes include no bitter on draft, an awkward layout, a chilly room, and a remote spot with poor mobile signal, where one reviewer says a taxi should be arranged in advance. The one serious complaint comes from a Sunday dinner where a young server knocked a pint over a diner. The replacement drink was not charged, but no formal apology followed and the manager was said to be too busy to come out.

“Quaint, rustic relaxing pub with absolutely fabulous food. Honestly. I can’t do it justice in a review- I had the chicken & king prawn risotto & it was delicious. One of nicest, if not the nicest meal I’ve ever tasted. Also, the two young men serving were really nice people, it was a pleasure to be served by them 😁”

“I wish lived nearer, we use this as a meeting place for family on a Sunday every couple of months. If I live nearer I’d be here in the week as well. Food is fantastic great Sunday lunch and lots of it, the staff are so helpful, even though they’re so busy.”

“Food was lovely as was the service. Room temp a little chilly. But the weather has turned this evening. Apart from that couldn't fault it 👌”

“What happened !! Last visit great. This visit. 26th april. Gone right down. Here’s what happened Went for Sunday dinner as a party of 3. Wife and sister in law Ten minutes in a staff member. Young lad put the plates down and knocked over a whole pint over my wife. Then was more inclined to dry the plates and seating and not help my wife. We were reseated and my wife had a replacement pint brought over by a young girl staff who said and I quote “. We wont charge you for the drink “. WOW The young lad who caused the accident didn't want to know us after the fact. No formal apology. Later finding out he made it seem it was my wifes fault. Asked to speak to the manager. To be told too busy to come out. WOW 2 Amazing to see that profit is put before customer service. And i say that because this place does give good food and it has been great service in the past. Not now thoughnn But way to go to drop the ball. Even other staff were amazed by this. Says a lot doesn't it. Well. To the manager and owners and staff. Shame on you.”

“Just been back again (Sept 2022) as a group of 4 on a Saturday night. Once again great food - big portions & pleasant staff Not been here in about 20 years but keep driving past it. Excellent food, managed to secure a late booking for 5 on Monday night. Food choice was very good with a good varied menu on the chalkboard - it was a special offer night so cash only which wasn't an issue. Main courses were served after approx 30 mins from ordering. I had Halibut & Garlic king prawns - got two large Halibut steaks covered with very large king prawns & garlic butter. Others had pork loin & green peppercorn sauce, Chicken Kiev & a Chicken Ceaser Salad - all excellent. Otherwise we saw large homemade pies going to other tables - will be back sometime for one of those. Pricing for the mains included a free dessert. Service was spot on. We will be back and a lot sooner than last time. Keep it going guys.. food is great....staff really nice.”
