Customer Review Summary

Sunday roast beef draws the most praise, with reviewers repeatedly calling out fresh vegetables, irresistible roast potatoes and beef cooked to a high standard, alongside a Christmas lunch that a family of five called delicious. Close behind, the spicy burger, gammon, and a real ale pint earn mentions, with staff frequently singled out for accommodating dietary requirements and even prepping a child's corn-on-the-cob. Service is described as quick, friendly and helpful across most visits, and quiz night is noted as a regular weekly draw. A recurring rough edge involves the food itself: one diner reports a microwaved-tasting steak and ale pie and poorly made nachos, and another describes an app order mishap where staff were reportedly rude and slow to process a refund, contrasted against a waitress they called lovely. Otherwise, most describe hot food arriving quickly, with one reviewer noting a wrongly delivered meal was promptly replaced with a fresh one.

Featured reviews

  • Evan Max
“There are Sunday lunches, and then there are Sunday lunches worth remembering. Ours certainly fell into the latter category. We arrived to find the venue spotless and inviting, the welcome warm and effortlessly polite. The roast beef appeared in excellent time and looked every bit as good as one hoped. The vegetables were fresh and full of flavour, the roast potatoes quite irresistible, and the beef itself was of an exceptionally high standard. The service remained gracious throughout. It is difficult to imagine choosing anywhere else, for the standard here is quite extraordinary. A thoroughly delightful experience.”
  • Desiree Munro
“Hot food on the very important hot plates. Very quick service from a very amiable team. Top class all around.”
  • Olivia Hughes
“We had a great Thursday night meal, served by Layla who was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Lovely atmosphere and now ready for the quiz (every Thursday raising money for Nightingale House).”
  • Sharon Thomas
“We visited after the football on what was obviously an extremely busy day, so we fully expected a lively atmosphere. However, the way a situation was handled by staff fell well below an acceptable standard. …”
  • Werdna Reklaw
“Always great service here. Layla was brilliant. Landlady Coral always welcomes us in. Very friendly.”
