About Glasfryn

Glasfryn is a timber-beamed pub on Raikes Ln in Mold, directly across the road from Theatre Clwyd, which makes it a convenient stop before or after a show. The large inn has a big garden with views of the surrounding countryside. The contemporary menu carries vegan and vegetarian options, including pumpkin and sage tortellini and a lentil and spinach pie, with chunky chips and onion rings as sides. Board games and dominoes are available for anyone settling in for a longer visit, and dogs are welcome. Glasfryn is part of the Bunning & Price pubs.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the food, from pumpkin and sage tortellini and a spiced cauliflower, lentil and spinach pie among the vegan choices to mushroom gnocchi with chunky chips and onion rings, a steak sandwich, an open prawn sandwich and roast beef with a large Yorkshire pudding. A tatin and sticky toffee pudding also get a mention. Close behind are the stunning countryside views and the large garden and outdoor seating, which one couple hope to enjoy again in summer. Staff are described as friendly and attentive, with one reviewer saying they go the extra mile. Others note that dogs are welcome, that board games and dominos are on hand, and that the theatre is directly across the road. The complaints are small. One reviewer found parking a little difficult on a very busy afternoon, and a group of 17 had to wait for a few desserts that went astray.

“Had a lovely meal yesterday evening. Lovely varied contemporary menu. Had the mushroom gnocchi as a vegetarian option which was delicious along with chunky chips and onion rings to share. The atmosphere was great... buzzy but not overly noisy and staff were friendly and attentive at every stage of the evening. I would definitely recommend, especially if visiting the theatre which is directly across the road”

“The food was delicious and the tables were not on top of each other. Plenty of space to enjoy your dining out experience. Unfortunately, we did have to wait for a few desserts that had gone astray, but we were a big group of 17 so it's easy to lose track.”
