About The Surrey Cricketers
On Chertsey Rd in Windlesham, The Surrey Cricketers is a gastropub with a pub side and a separate, more formal restaurant side. Drinkers can take a stool at the bar, while the dining room and the snugs are set up for meals. Fires burn through the winter. Outside, a large garden has a children's play area and a shade cover, which gives families a space of their own. The kitchen cooks British dishes, and burgers and pizza appear on the menu too. A lunch menu offers two or three courses. Sunday brings a roast, with a more limited menu that day for anyone not having one.
Good to know
“The Surrey Cricketers is something of a local institution, a charming neighbourhood pub with bags of character.Pull up a stool at the bar for a proper pint or enjoy top notch British fare in the cosy dining room or one of the snugs. Roaring fires in winter, al fresco dining in summer.”

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the Sunday roast, with the roast lamb called probably the best one reviewer has eaten, and the pate and a burger with pizza at one table also earn praise, along with good desserts and a good selection of wines. The garden draws repeated mentions, including a large shaded outdoor area and a play area one parent calls safe for children. Service divides the reviews. Several describe friendly, helpful staff, one who moved a table to a cooler spot, while others report slow or missing service: a table of 14 getting two plates at a time with long gaps, a cold roast, a dry and tasteless chicken Caesar salad, and one reviewer who left after waiting outside for drinks and menus and finding the server on his phone. Another says the garden order-taker repeatedly got things wrong, and drinks and food only appeared once asked about. Smaller complaints include salty mushroom risotto, over-fried fish and chips, a rude manager, and a scruffy outside area. One reviewer noted the bill came with the service charge described as optional.

“Terrible food, rude manager , place needs a total refurb and refresh or change of owner. Totally overpriced for what it is, which is a basic tired old pub. Outside area is dirty and scruffy. Gone downhill hill over the past year. Cocktails are out of a pump but still charging inflated prices . Plenty of other local places to get good food for the same price range”

“Had a lovely lunch, first person to greet us was lovely, couldn't be more helpful, even moved us to a cooler spot, thanks. Waier serving us for food was a little brisk, felt like he didn't want to be there. The food was lovely”

“Went for a family lunch on Sunday. There is a very limited menu if you don’t want a Sunday roast. The garden area is very nice and safe for children in the play area. The service was terrible, very slow, had to ask for everything (cutlery, napkins, glasses, plates). One waitress bringing two plates of food at a time with long gaps in between for a table of 14. One person had a roast and it was cold.Chicken Caesar salad was tasteless and chicken was dry. I would not recommend this pub.”

“I took my family here for a Sunday roast dinner and it was lovely. The roast lamb was probably the best I have eaten. The service was also excellent. It was a nice day to sit in their large outdoor garden under a shade cover. My whole family very much enjoyed our meal.”

“Absolutely awful experience today, turned up for a bi-monthly lunch with a friend. Asked to sit outside (place was pretty deserted), waited over 10mins and still nobody came asking what we would like to drink or menus. Went inside and asked for menus which the guy gave me. Waited another 10mins, still nobody came, decided we were leaving, went inside to find the server just sitting there on his phone. Said we're leaving and he couldn't of cared less. We went to the Brickmakers Arms down the road and had a fantastic lunch. This place used to be good, not anymore.”
