About The Old Wheatsheaf
The Old Wheatsheaf is a pub on Frimley Green Rd in Camberley, with hand pumps lining the bar and a dining room panelled in pine. Pie nights run twice a week with four pies to choose from, and a daily pie is on offer the rest of the time. The kitchen also serves a roast dinner with lamb, beef, chicken or pork, and chips with blue cheese. The drinks list includes beers from local breweries and Hazy Hog cider. Tables are partly held back as reserved, so a phone call ahead is how to check for a space.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday roast is the most frequent draw, with lamb singled out and one reviewer calling it possibly the best Sunday lunch in the area. Pies come close behind, with a pie night on Thursday and Saturday, four to choose from, generous helpings, and a flaky crust on the daily pie. Reviewers also name crispy duck sliders, lamb cutlets, calves liver, burgers and chips with blue cheese, along with plenty of local beers and the Hazy Hog cider. The covered outside area earns repeated praise, and most describe friendly, attentive service. The criticisms are specific. One diner found the roast processed and far from impressive, with parsnips, stuffing and cauliflower cheese charged extra, and judged it poor value. Another reviewer said a staff member loudly told their elderly grandfather he couldn't sit at a reserved table, with no explanation. One reviewer suggests booking or phoning ahead for a table. A regular notes the music stays low enough to talk over.

“The food was well priced, hot and good sized portions. Lovely tasty pub grub, the calves liver was gorgeous”

“We are regulars to this pub. We haven’t eaten there for a while but visited last night (Saturday) it was so nice to have some ‘specials’ to choose from. I had crispy duck sliders and lamb cutlets, both absolutely delicious and really good portions (I couldn’t eat all of mine) my husband had peanut satay chicken and also wanted the lamb, but I had last one 🙄. We had a lovely night where we were ably to talk with friends because the music level is always low enough for conversations to be had without a struggle. Thanks team!”

“⭐ 1 Star Review I visited this bar with my grandparents and went to the restroom briefly. When I came back, I found that my granddad had been approached at our table in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner. A staff member — a man wearing a green shirt, tie, and glasses, appearing to be in his 40s or 50s — loudly and rudely said, “YOU CAN’T SIT THERE, IT’S A RESERVED TABLE!” There was no politeness, no explanation, and no attempt at basic courtesy. This situation could have been handled very simply and respectfully by saying, “Sorry, this table is reserved.” Instead, the aggressive tone and lack of professionalism were embarrassing and upsetting, especially when speaking to elderly guests. Customer service matters, and unfortunately this experience showed a complete lack of it. I hope management addresses how staff communicate with customers in the future.”

“The meals we had at this lovely old pub were exceptional. They have pie night on Thursday and Saturday, and the pies (4 to choose from) were sensationally good, with very generous helpings. However, it wasn't just the pies, all of our meals were excellent, the dessert too, and the host and his staff were friendly and helpful. It would be worth your while travelling any distance to try this place, and I highly recommend that you do.”

“Best pub food we have had since coming to England. I recommend the daily pie. Crust is very flakey”
