Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the bubble and squeak, served with poached eggs and either smoked salmon or grilled ham, and the eggs are repeatedly called perfectly cooked. Close behind is the food more broadly, with one diner praising the Sunday roast and another the sourdough flatbread, and several describe hot, tasty plates that arrive quickly even when the pub is very busy. Service is described as friendly and attentive without rushing anyone, and one group of 16 found everything set up on arrival with all meals arriving hot and together. Drinks draw their own praise, including a clear-ice Old Fashioned at the bar and a Malbec one diner barely wanted to swallow. Several call the prices fair for the portions, and dogs are welcome. One reviewer notes the pub is very busy and suggests booking in advance. No real complaints surface, though one visitor found it a little further out than expected. One diner who spent a large sum on three dishes, a side and two drinks still called it reasonable and told the staff so before leaving.

“We stopped at The Brickmakers for dinner on our way home last night after driving past it for years and never thinking to stop—and I’m so glad we finally did. We pushed the boat out and ordered three dishes, a side and two drinks, and everything was absolutely amazing. The food was excellent and the service was friendly, welcoming and faultless. I was so impressed that I made a point of telling the staff before we left. The total came to £74.95, which I honestly thought was very reasonable for the amount of food and drinks we had, especially considering the quality. I would highly recommend The Brickmakers and encourage people to support this fantastic local business. We will definitely be returning!”

“I have been reviewing businesses for years. Please see my previous reviews. I must say this place is definitely on the top mark when it comes to the following attributes. 1. The attention to detail of the staff members, their passion to provide top class service and when we have asked them to either bring or serve us with something. We got the ‘yes madam yes sir’ response. 2. The wine is so fine especially the Malbec that i didn’t want to swallow it. 3. The toilets are very clean and well designed. 4. We had 2 course meals and we felt the price was very fair for such tasty, hot and delicious food. For this we wanted to say thank you to the kitchen staff for executing outstanding Sunday roast dinners and for the professionalism of the front of the house waitress staff. We are looking forward to spending our summer at your premises. This place is highly recommended and pooches flourish in this place which is the icing on the cake for dog lovers.”

“We visited after a local ladies’ walk as a group of 16, and everything was absolutely outstanding. The team had everything set up and ready for us when we arrived, which was so appreciated after being out walking. The service was warm, friendly and incredibly efficient throughout. The food was delicious, and we were especially impressed that all meals arrived hot and together — no small feat for a group of our size! I personally had the bubble & squeak with smoked salmon and poached eggs, and it was absolutely delicious — genuinely the best poached eggs I’ve ever had! Many of us were so impressed that we’ll definitely be returning with family and friends, and recommending The Brickmakers Arms to others. Thank you for such a lovely lunch. 😋👍”
