Customer Review Summary
The cheeseburger is the dish reviewers name most, described as cooked perfectly and kept simple for strong flavour, with fluffy but crisp fries and "frickles" close behind. Reviewers also praise the roasts and Sunday lunch, a pulled pork roll, smoky ribs, fish and chips, and a vegan pizza called tasty. They like the large indoor and outdoor seating, the games including shuffleboard and darts, the garden and enclosed woodland for children, and the choice of beers on tap. Complaints are specific. One longtime regular found the pizzas tiny and child-sized compared with before, and was told they were not child portions. Another called the vegan burger not nice, found the pudding menu very small and the service slow, and one says the cheeseburger arrived a bit pink inside. Others note a limited food menu, a steep hill and little parking. Staff are described as friendly, and one family says the team let them bring a first birthday cake the night before and helped with the decorations.

“Bar staff gave great customer service and made/poured good drinks, the cheese burger was cooked perfectly and kept simple to give strong flavour and the fries were fluffy but crisp. My partner loved the "frickles". The seating was comfortable and the pub had a pleasant atomosphere with plenty of seating depending on how quiet and tucked away you like to be.”

“Lots of atmosphere - plenty of indoor and outdoor games for adults and kids. Large indoor and outdoor seating areas and enclosed woodland in back for kids to enjoy. Decent food - lovely roasts at fairly reasonable prices. Great place for family meet-ups : large tables for 12 -plus, no problem. Pleasant attentive staff and quick service. It's on a fairly steep hill and not a lot of parking.”

“Been coming to The Golden Grove for years and always rated the pizzas highly and the wonderful pub garden. Sadly, yesterday’s visit was really disappointing. The pizzas were tiny compared to what they used to be — genuinely looked child-sized despite costing the same, £16 each. I asked the staff if we’d been given a child pizzas, and they said no. Such a shame to see obvious cost-cutting from a place we used to love. The old pizzas were great and one of the reasons we kept coming back. Please bring them back to the size they used to be.”

“We celebrated our little one’s first birthday there and the team were exceptional. They were so accommodating, let us have the cake there from the night before, helped us with the decorations and anything we needed on the day. Amazing food, games and atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend it enough!”
