Customer Review Summary

Sunday roast is the draw reviewers raise most, with the shared roast chicken and the shared lamb for two both called delicious and plentiful. Close behind are the burgers, made with two thinner patties and offered with a gluten free bun, plus the sausages and fish and chips. Others single out the salt and pepper squid, baked truffle Camembert, chicken schnitzel and sticky toffee pudding. The garden, the dog friendly welcome and the wine and cocktail choices come up repeatedly, and staff are called friendly. The complaints are few but specific. One reviewer noted only one vegetarian main on the menu, and another suggests calling ahead to book because the place is small. One Sunday lunch went wrong when a diner who asked for gravy without alcohol got the wrong meal with alcoholic gravy, and the replacement beef arrived cold. The refunded meal was then added to the bill instead of deducted until it was pointed out.

“Wow what an amazing experience from start to finish. Me and my partner visited Virginia Waters for the first time, travelling from the Croydon area. We wanted to eat lunch locally before returning home and did a google search and decided on The Beehive in haste without really doing a lot of research. On entering the outdoor area we were greeted by Steven who was so impressive from arriving to leaving. He was attentive and helpful without being pushy or overbearing. The food was also impressive. It was a Sunday and we decided to have the shared roast chicken and it could have easily fed at least one other person. If this business retains its chef and out front staff it will be a massive hit and I would gladly travel the hour and a bit to come eat here again. Well done.”

“We had booked Sunday lunch and I was looking to showing it off to my friend, based on a previous visit. Being allergic to alcohol, I asked for the alternative gravy without it. I was dismayed they brought the wrong meal plus gravy with alcohol. The waiter said the chef would cook a fresh beef, which was not true because it arrived cold. By then my shared veg was cold too so I hardly ate dinner. Even if they had not made these mistakes, the food was not nearly as good as my previous months ago They did ‘refund’ my meal but the receipt total added a meal rather than deducted so we would pay £75 - see photo. We had to point this out and get a revised bill. Hopefully this was just a one-off very bad day for them because I was very disappointed”

“Incredible roast menu. We had the shared lamb for two and it was delicious and plentiful. The perfect stop after boating on the Thames near Runnymede”

“I fell in love with this cosy pub! My friend showed me the pub one day when we were looking for a nice lunch. I was so impressed with the courgette fritters and the goat cheese salad. The main dish was the special of the day - a beef stew, that was cooked perfectly from the meat, the veg to the delicious mash and gravy. I came back recently with another friend and tried the Chicken Shnitzel while he had a Steak. His Steak was perfectly cooked throughout and all the garnish was amazin, but the winner was the chicken i ordered. My friend even got a food envy after trying it and said he will return just so he can order it for himself 😅 The pub is dog friendly as well, and they have little doggy treats for the pooches. The garden is beautiful! I can't wait to see it in the Spring and Summer time.”
