  “We came here on Monday at around 2 ish- it had plenty of space and the service was impeccable. From the moment we walked in, we were very welcome and the atmosphere was remarkable. They had plenty of Veggie options and the deserts are 10/10- would highly recommend the banoffee pie. Our server Alan was an absolute gem, went out of his way to make us comfortable and even bought my little sibling the rock sugar stick that she was too shy to ask for. Alan was a gem ! 💎. Would defo recommend.”

  “Stayed two nights in Windermere this week and Brown Sugar is the place to eat. Top notch evening meals, great breakfasts and don't skip out on their banoffee pie. It's a monster of a portion, so you may want to share. Could probably feed five, to be honest 😂 great staff, service and food quality. Highly recommended. A+++++”

  “Wr arrived this cafe. Caffe latte & posh Hot chocolate was so fabulous. Staff was polite, friendly and excellent service. Omg all foods and drinks are in the heaven. HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE COME THIS CAFE!!!”

  “I would like to preface by saying that I have many years of hospitality experience and do understand how a restaurant SHOULD run and this just is not that. Staff seem poorly trained and overrun with orders, and as a result of this food arrives as though it has been rushed. Garlic parmesan truffle fries arrived undercooked and with a lack of garlic parmesan or truffle :( as well as this, halloumi fries are extremely greasy. I know that reviews are read but instead of spending time arguing back with the poor quality of service maybe try to improve it. Thank you !”

  “My sister and I visited Brown Sugar a little while ago, and it was honestly one of the best experiences I’ve had. The staff were all incredibly sweet, and a woman I believe was the owner was especially lovely and welcoming to both of us. The food and drinks were amazing. I would definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back!”

  “Me and my friends went to the Brown Sugar last night for food and drink. Michael was super amazing with us. He was super helpful, entertaining and very catering to my gluten allergy. Michael went above and beyond for my friends. Highly recommend going to this place, especially when Michael is there as he is A*! Food was delicious. Great if you are GF. Thank you michael for your hospitality.”

  “I never leave bad reviews but really disappointed with our visit, especially given the prices (£24 for a salad!). When we arrived, we were seated at a filthy table that still had a half-eaten waffle left on it. It was obvious the table hadn’t been cleaned, and we had to ask a waiter to sort it out, even though serving our drinks didn’t even notice it. Things got worse when we discovered food in my glass and my husbands. I mentioned it to the waiter who had brought our food, but he said he would get somebody else because he “didn’t work there,” which was confusing given that he had just served us. We then told a waitress, as he clearly had not got anyone to come us. She took both of our glasses away and continued serving other customers, but never returned with replacement drinks. The service throughout was really poor. A table near us hadn’t been cleared when we arrived and still hadn’t been cleared by the time we had left. One of the food runners was particularly rude. Both me and my husband stepped aside on the stairs to let him pass, not one Thankyou to my husband and when I said “you’re welcome” did he then say Thankyou, he then proceeded to give me evil looks when walking past outside. The food itself was really poor. I ordered a fish finger butty, and one of the fish fingers contained virtually no fish at all. The chips were as though they had been reheated rather than freshly cooked. Overall, the cleanliness, service, and food quality were all below standard. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place and will not be returning.”

  “Was a lovely place to go, went there for small bites on a lovely hot day. Not from here but was lovely. Food: was absolutely great worth trying the salmon 😋 shame we missed the olives on the salad though. Service: was lovely staff was greeted at the door and seated but was unsure if needed to omget up and order or wait till we asked 😅 but apart from that fantastic service. Rating is high but for now during this review they are short staffed bless them but they still put all there effort in on a hot day! Good job guys!!! Atmosphere: lovely view, lovely building however gents toilets had no toilet seat so if you want to sit down on the toilet, dont. So many germs on the metal bowl.”

  “We dropped in for breakfast this morning as we were drawn by the decor and position. We were met by a warm welcome and huge smile. The atmosphere is calm with jazz music in the background. I had a cappuccino served with its own stick of brown sugar and small almond bite. To eat I had Cumberland sausage and egg on sourdough and my man had the eggs benedict. Food was served quickly and beautifully presented. Prices are reasonable and we had a look at the lunchtime menu as well. They also have a selection of cakes and pastries that were huge. Lovely place and highly recommend a visit PS good wine and cocktail selection too.”
