  “Omg this place is incredible. The Rusty Shears are an actual hidden gem of a restaurant. We walked past as we are staying around the corner and it looked so inviting and pretty. Upon entering you are greatest with friendly staff who can't do enough for you, a quirky vintage atmosphere which makes you feel at home and welcome. Lots of random wooden kitchen tables and chairs, teapots, cups/saucers, figurines, an electric piano and grammarphone, fairy lights and flowers. I feel like I have fallen through time into a grandma's country kitchen. The food it the best we have had in a long time. The most amazing pizza we have ever eaten, artisan, tasty, full of flavour with their own twist on classics. Gluten free pizza which was so delicious I couldn't stop eating even though I was full. The counter when you walk in is like grandma's kitchen bakery, full of mouth watering home make cakes and desserts. We could not resist 😋 Our evening was topped off with a great full bodied red wine. We would absolutely come here again, we would come to Whitby again just to come and eat here. We highly recommend the Rusty Shears to all and everyone”

  “An exceptional breakfast 😋👌 This cracking little venue was recommended to me by a friend who knows the area very well. We visited on a hot sunny weekend in August and were seated at a table on the patio immediately. It offers a very pleasant and relaxing space to enjoy a meal with friends. The staff were friendly and attentive. The service was prompt, even though the restaurant was busy at the time. The quality of the food was excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I would highly recommend Rusty Shears and would gladly pay a return visit 😊”

  “I had a fantastic breakfast at Rusty Shears! I chose their Rusty’s Stack, which was absolutely delicious; I really appreciated that they let me have the chilli jam on the side, too, so I could decide how much of it I wanted on the meal. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the black pudding held its shape well rather than being too crumbly, and the potato scones formed the perfect base for the stack! The hot chocolate was fantastic as well, the perfect indulgent drink for the morning. I liked how friendly the service was, too, especially in how they provided some dog biscuits for our dog. I’d definitely recommend Rusty Shears to anyone in the area, especially those with dogs.”

  “Nice little place to stop for food. Evening menu is somewhat limited (pizza or 'small plates') but everything was really tasty and it is a nice place to eat. Dog friendly which is great and the staff brought a bowl of water out for our dog which was appreciated on a warm evening. Enjoyed sitting out in the courtyard, only thing I think would have made it a little better is a bit of background music but that is just personal preference. Really enjoyed it anyway and would go back 😃”

  “Very peaceful, staff very friendly and good food. We had a rusty breakfast and sausage on bloomer bread good portion size and delicious, well cooked! Definitely a hidden gem and will be back! Nice loose tea so I could brew to my own liking! Cake was also fab!”

  “Lovely staff and nice atmosphere. Having looked forward to local kippers for breakfast I have to say that I was rather disappointed. I found them a little tough and dry, a little cold and a rather bitter after taste. I also found the poached egg dry and cold. Nobody asked if everything was ok with the food - we paid and left. Overall, disappointed sadly.”

  “Lovely, hidden gem for a cosy breakfast and a pot of loose leaf Yorkshire tea, perfect! Dog friendly and lovely friendly staff, we didn’t have to wait long but t timed our visit to perfection as a steady flow of customers came in as we tucked in, outdoor seating for when the sun is out, be late and prepare to wait, well worth it may I add.. bought some cake to take away for later.. next time I’m in Whitby it will be my first stop”

  “Great place just up from the main street in Whitby just off Flowergate past The Ensilore pub. Great service and food in a fantastic old world setting. We had the breakfast menu and I had Shatsuka eggs which were absolutely amazing with toasted bloomer to dip in, plus amazing coffee. Great atmosphere. A must visit for sure 👌”

  “We stumbled upon this little gem when we made a trip to Whitby. The staff are super friendly. The atmosphere was 10/10. The food was delicious and it arrived quickly. They have some lovely selections of cakes. We would definitely go back there”

  “A hidden gem of a cafe on Silver Street in Whitby. Located on a lovely little street and away from the crowds this beautiful cafe in a small courtyard is brimming with atmosphere and charm. A very good menu and the food was excellent. Very quick service and lovely staff. We sat in the courtyard under the biggest fig tree I had ever seen. It was a hot day and this tree provided the most wonderful shade. There is seating inside. If parked on the car parks by the harbour you about 10 minutes away but up hill as is everything in Whitby! However the walk is worth it. This is a dog friendly cafe.”
