“The fish was good, nice thick piece of fish with a crispy batter. The chips weren't good, I think they'd been warmed up. They were tough and dry. Tartare sauce was homemade and it was creamy and tangy with a good amount of pickled veg in it.”

“I was staying five minutes walk from this fish and chip shop so decided to try the scampi (10 pieces of quite big Whitby scampi) and small chips (a generous amount and quite enough for me, not like the tiny cone of chips some places call small chips). They were absolutely delicious, hot and not at all greasy. The scampi is cooked to order, as are Amy of their items except the cod. This is a cash only establishment. My scampi was £7.50 and the small chips £2 (regular size is £3). I took them back to my accommodation and added a few carrots and peas. I’ll definitely be going back again - the cod they were also serving looked huge! Cod and chips was £10.50.”

“We moved up to Whitby 2 years ago always eaten at trenchers. A local gentleman told us to try riverside and i must say that these are by far the best fish and chips in Whitby. Excellent service 5 stars if I could give more I would. Thank you both amazing food 👍”

“Staying just down the road and read the great reviews on Google. Called in this evening for Cod and chips. Cost was £10.50, CASH ONLY, . 21/05/26. Lovely good size peice of cod with a good portion of chips. Thoroughly enjoyed it and certainly recommend it.”

“Proper traditional chip shop. Brilliant service & immaculately clean with delicious food. Much better value than the "big boys" in town. Check the opening times. Supposedly where the locals go so that says it all. As good as it gets.”
