Quick info
About Hadley's Fish & Chips
Hadley's Fish & Chips is a fish and chips restaurant at 11 Bridge St in Whitby, with en suite double and triple guest rooms and wrought iron bedsteads above the dining room. Downstairs, the sit-down restaurant has table service, and tables can be reserved online. Cod and chips arrives with mushy peas, a slice of bread and butter, and tea. Halloumi sticks and chips sit on the menu alongside scampi bites. The kitchen cooks in vegetable oil rather than beef dripping, so the food suits vegetarians, and gluten free fish and chips are available. Diners who want scraps can ask for them, and they come in a separate bowl. A dedicated dog dining area has dog treats on the menu.

“Was very grateful that they were able to provide gluten free fish and chips as it’s so difficult to find places that do this. Three of us had the traditional Yorkshire tea meal, which comes with fish, chips, mushy peas, a slice of bread and tea. Was yummy but I did have some undercooked chips and we did struggle to get some cutlery as when our food arrived there wasn’t any bought out and staff was not available to ask as they were too busy.”

“Visited on a Sunday teatime with friends. Seated quickly and our order taken. Food arrived quickly, delicious! Fish and chips and a gorgeous crab salad. Reasonably priced and the place is immaculate. Plentiful and attentive staff.”

“We stopped at Hadley’s in Whitby and I have to say, we were not disappointed! The cod was beautifully white, fresh and flaky, with batter that was crispy, golden and absolutely spot on. The chips were golden and fluffy on the inside — proper chips, not those sad little things that look like they’ve had a hard life! 😂 We even asked for scraps, and they came in a separate bowl. Now that’s service! I’m not saying we went overboard, but the scraps definitely didn’t get left behind. 😂 The service was excellent, the food was excellent and the value was excellent too. Everything was cooked beautifully and the staff were lovely. A proper fish and chip shop, serving proper fish and chips. We’ll definitely be back! 👌🐟🍟”

“A previous review says there's no meal deal. Don't know where she went but I had a fabulous medium cod and chips with mushy peas, a slice of bread and butter and tea for £18 (21 if you have alcohol) The fish was beautiful, the batter nice and crispy. The staff were on it and alert to customer service. Highly recommended for a sit down fish n chips dinner/tea”
