  “Great fish'n'chips (fresh & tasty with crispy batter) in this village restaurant and takeaway. Every bit as good as when we were last here several years ago. Our hungry family group of 9 (from 3 generations) were temporarily silenced by the enjoyable task of clearing our plates. Fast, friendly service, too, and the pie and sausage dishes were also a hit. Highly recommended!”

  “Magpie chippy in Whitby is garbagevjust come here have a fab time. We enjoyed the fish and the chips Haddock Sea bass Cod A group of 7 of us tried a wide range and it was all delicious great time for a last chippy for a while Make sure to get fish bits they are the best Prices are perfectly fine once you take into account the experience and drinks”

  “15:30 Sunday - 2 x eksdale specials Haddock, chips, buttered bread with tea or coffee. Added mushy peas for extra. Really good food, perfect crisp to fish, chips freshly cooked right then and there for each order. Buttered break for free is a nice touch 👌 Tangy Qatar sauce was lovely, dont need a lot to go a long way. High rate this place, would go back.”

  “The nicest batter for miles, not too harsh or brittle, lets the flavour of the fish come through. Staff always friendly, we travel from Scarborough to eat here so must be good.”

  “The best fish n chips/pie n chips we've had in the Whitby area in ages. Decent portions,the fish was tasty and well cooked,the steak pie....absolutely fantastic,our only nit pick was the chips were a bit pale (very tasty though) The staff were brilliant and a credit to the owner. We shall return!!”

  “After a nice chilled day our uysk and fury decided to go go full pelt int back of astra as they decided they were hankmarvin so we looked for some snap but no joy as the parking was horrendous. So we started to drive and then found this little gem The staff very pleasent and happy we.orderd 45 slices of bread along with a small fish chips pees scampi and two nuggets and chips was absolutely spot on fresh tasty bang on its a 10 from this fat lad will be on my tiktok channel soon”

  “Visited on the way back from Malyyan Waterfalls as this is on the middle of the road, We ordered a 2 Portions of Seabass,2 kids meals and 4 drinks, For what we paid, The adult portions was really small size - The fish itself and the quantity of fries too,so taking 2 stars for this,as this was the main reason for the visit ! Other that that The food was fresh and tasty stats correct,very busy around 6-7pm ,maybe not able to find parking in there as just has like 5 car spaces,but down the road will be a plety of parking! Do I recommend it? if you are getting a hadock or cod,yes the portions will be big,not if you want seabass !”

  “We had a takeaway today after a trip to Whitby, I’m quite fussy with fish and refuse to eat with skin on. So we called in to try and we were very pleased, the fish was spot on, lovely white fish, crispy golden brown batter, good portions, the chips were not swimming in grease, we had mushy pease and curry sauce both were a good addition to the meal and to top it off with a cup of Yorkshire tea ( a proper brew) the staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely call again.”

  “Had the Eskdale Special which comes with haddock, chips, bread and butter and tea or coffee. Absolutely delicious, perfectly steamed, big portion of haddock in a light, crispy batter and piping hot chips. Curry sauce was tasty and quite sweet which I love and the tartare sauce was great too. Service was really quick and friendly. Thank you - we are glad we have found you :)”

  “We couldn't park in the main town so navigated to this fish and chip cafe. There was very convenient on-site parking and the interior is light and airy with clean toilets. It's a comprehensive menu with good fish selection and ok pricing. I had a haddock with chips and mushy peas and unfortunately the fish batter was hard at the edges and inside the fish texture was dry and over-cooked. This fish should be moist and readily flake but it was just over-cooked and not enjoyable. My 3 other friends had similar issues. The chips, by contrast, could have benefitted from 2 or 3 minutes more cooking. The potatoes were not a particularly good flavour. Finally, the mushy peas were nice and mushy in texture - not just processed peas - but again, the flavour wasn't good. It didn't seem they had been cooked with enough salt and whilst this can be added, it's not quite the same as having been cooked from the start properly seasoned. It may have just been a bad day for then, but really there were a few too many fairly basic things wrong with our meals - sorry.”
