About The Ship & Bell
The Ship & Bell is a pub at 6 London Rd in Waterlooville, housed in a 17th-century coaching inn where dogs are welcome, so regulars can bring their own along. The kitchen cooks from seasonal, local produce, and the menu includes a Sunday roast and Beef Stroganoff. Behind the bar, the drinks range covers ales, bottled beers, wines and spirits. Food is ordered at the bar with the staff, and walk-ins are accepted without a booking. When the pub is busy, food can take a while to arrive, and the team advises of the wait when you order. The pub has its own car park, which is monitored, and drivers register on entry to avoid a penalty notice.

“Well what a nice surprise! Wasn’t planned just stopped and went in for lunch. Ella and her colleague behind the bar were welcoming and engaging. Food took a while but was really worth the wait. Well done The Ship & Bell, if I lived closer I’d be back sooner.”

“Called in without a booking for food, no problem. Nice place. Everyone really nice. Food was decent also, quite a wait for food, but they were busy and did advise there would be when ordered.”

“I had the Beef Stroganoff—it was honestly incredible! The meat was cooked to perfection, packed with flavour, and served with a rich, delicious sauce and fluffy rice. Aside from the fantastic food, the staff were brilliant, so welcoming, and really made the experience special. 100% would go back. Highly recommend checking this place out!”

“This was the first time in a long while my wife and I had been to the Ship & Bell. What a difference. A really friendly pub with a great atmosphere. The manager and staff were really friendly and welcoming and it was so nice to see a cross section of families and elderly people enjoying the day. We will definitely come back.”
