About The Chairmakers
On Apless Ln in Waterlooville, The Chairmakers is a pub that welcomes dogs. Its Sunday roast is served from a carvery counter, with roast beef and pork with crackling as the meats. Roast potatoes and swede mash are among the vegetables on the carvery. The regular menu includes fish and chips, and a separate Specials Menu runs alongside it. For something lighter than a roast, the kitchen also makes a burger and a chicken burger, each served with chips.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the carvery and Sunday roast, singling out crispy roast potatoes with fluffy centres, tender roast beef, pork with sizzling crackling and freshly prepared vegetables, with the swede a standout. Close behind are a super tender pork belly and fish and chips that one group called possibly one of the best suppers in some time. A burger with coleslaw also earns a mention, and one reviewer notes the pub is dog friendly. Staff are described as friendly, and the tables as well spaced despite a lively buzz. The recurring weak spot is dessert. One found the sticky toffee pudding okay but apparently not homemade, with a caramel sauce it didn't need, while another said the crumble had a great texture but should have been much sweeter. One reviewer found the staff a tad disorganised. Another recalled the chef sending swede mash to the table when the carvery counter had run out.

“Wr went for The Specials Menu on Friday teatime. We had a friendly welcome by the Bar staff and the young lady that served us Fish and Chips in the restaurant. We sat outside for an hour first as it was warm. Lovely views and a relaxed atmosphere 😎”

“Just had a lovely meal here....didn't book but were shown to a table straight away. Ordered our mains and drinks and they were with us very quickly. Nicely presented food and lovely staff. Big shout out for Ingrid who served us....lovely girl, chatty and welcoming and makes a great pina colada”

“A delightful evening spent with friends at The Chairmakers. Quite possibly one of the best fish and chips suppers we've had for some time. Many thanks to the landlord for squeezing our food order in at the last moment...much appreciated! A chilled summer's eve... absolutely perfect.”

“Went there for my birthday treat. It's a lovely place with plenty of room. Food was excellent, good portions and well presented. Staff were lovely, if a tad disorganised - different staff came to ask about drinks, next course, everything ok. But better than insufficient attention! I would recommend them, first rate.”

“Had a lovely lunch here today. Friendly staff and tasty food as usual. Opted for the burger for myself, and a side of coleslaw- very nice. Daughter loves a fish finger sandwich so the fish goujon panini went down a treat. Dog friendly for us is always a must, and this place is. Will be back (again)!”
