About The Ship Inn, Langstone
On Langstone Rd in Havant, The Ship Inn, Langstone is a pub right on the water by the dock, with tables looking over Langstone's harbour at sunset. The room follows a traditional pub layout, and the team brings food and drinks to the table. Fish and chips and pâté, served with extra toast, are among the dishes on the menu. The pub opens daily, and most tables are reserved, so walk-ins may struggle to get a seat. The kitchen also cooks locally caught seafood.

Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips is the dish reviewers raise most, called excellent and the best by several diners, with one praising the perfectly cooked fish and another the haddock. Close behind are the friendly, welcoming staff, with a few noting servers who went above and beyond, and the setting right on the water, where one reviewer was seated at a table with a view of the harbour. Other plates that earn praise include the lamb roast, steak cooked as requested, guineafowl with mulled wine gravy, and a passionfruit and lemon tart that was not too sweet. The main complaint comes from one reviewer who found the Cobb salad underwhelming, with three tiny bacon lardons, one and a half cherry tomatoes and tired lettuce, plus a small side of chips and a long wait, though staff offered to take it back. Another reviewer calls the car park a nightmare. Small gestures stick with diners, such as extra toast brought with the pate and crayons and paper for a child.

“This is an awesome place with a great atmosphere! The things that make this spot a place to go; fantastic staff (thanks to Matt for his wonderful service and cheerful disposition!), great food (the fish & chips were the best!), dog friendly, and a prime location (right on the water!)! The set up and character of the Inn makes you feel at home the moment you walk in!”

“It’s a very comfortable traditional pub. I took my daughter there for dinner after her pre season match against Portsmouth FC I ordered the pate which was tasty and they brought extra toast for us. The haddock was very nicely done also. One thing that stood out was the floor staff. They were very helpful. In particular the young waitress who served us at table 14. She went above and beyond! It’s a lovely setting by the dock and there was a full orange August moon when we left.”

“We had a perfect wedding day thanks to Katie, Mark and all their staff. Katie guided us from our planning stages back in December until our actual day making it stress free and addressing all our queries with a smile.”

“We visited The Ship Inn as a family and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food was excellent. We ordered the fish and chips (one adult portion and one children’s portion) along with the Ploughman’s Platter, and everything was fresh, well presented and generously portioned. The fish was perfectly cooked, the chips were great, and the quality of the ingredients really stood out. A special mention must go to Jasmine, who looked after us brilliantly. She was incredibly friendly, welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help. She brought our child crayons and paper to keep them entertained, which was a lovely touch and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. It’s service like that which really makes a difference when dining out as a family. The location overlooking the harbour is beautiful and creates a lovely atmosphere for a relaxed meal. Combined with the excellent food and outstanding service, it made for a thoroughly enjoyable visit. It’s not often that a pub gets every aspect right, but The Ship Inn delivered on food, service, atmosphere and value. We left very impressed and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.”

“I'm not a pub person, but this pub changed my perspective. The atmosphere the views, the food, the staff everything was superb. Nina made sure we sat at the best table in the pub, with a stunning view to the water. She was so attentive, kind, and understanding, making sure we had everything we needed at all times. Will definitely be coming back when I am next in Havant.”
