About The Ship Inn
At 24 High St in Emsworth, The Ship Inn is a pub and restaurant set in an old inn, with real ales on the bar and pub lunches on the food side. The menu includes a Sunday roast with a veggie nut roast option, and jacket potatoes served with fillings such as cheese and beans. A courtyard garden sits alongside the main rooms, and a pool table gives groups of friends something to play between rounds. Sport is shown on the TV, and the landlord describes the place as a sports bar that sells food. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the service, with the bartender and a server who fixed a mistake drawing repeated praise. One diner got a replacement jacket potato and complimentary drinks after the first came out hard in the middle. The food gets warm mentions too: a veggie nut roast and a Sunday lunch called massive and cooked perfectly, plus a good draught Amstel and a burger at a fair price. A reviewer also appreciated the vegan options and quiet, easy conversation. Long waits are the recurring complaint. Three reviewers describe meals taking around an hour, including jacket potatoes in a nearly empty pub, where staff said they were "very busy". One order of the sweet freak burger arrived without the promised biscoff sauce, biscuit or gravy, with oily, hard chips. A vegan diner found several items out of stock and suggests phoning ahead. The World Cup screenings turn the traditional boozer atmosphere into something one reviewer calls a core memory.

“Popped in on a Thursday evening to see if they were serving food, which they were. There's a decent amount of vegan options on the menu which is great. Just maybe phone ahead to make sure they have things in. Unfortunately a few things were out of stock this evening, but I was still able to get some dinner. We were both happy with our food. The best thing was the service. We mostly spoke with one guy. I forgot to ask his name unfortunately, sorry! He was kind and accommodating and had the perfect vibe of friendly in a relaxed way that put me at ease. The pub was pretty quiet but that's exactly what we were looking for. We could have a perfectly audible and easy conversation. The playlist was spot on, bit of Backstreet Boys, bit of Jimmy Eat World. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience here. If they keep on top of their vegan food stock a bit better then that would be the cherry on top. Thank you to the two bar staff and the chef this evening.”

“Had Sunday lunch here yesterday. I can honestly say it was the best Sunday lunch out I've ever had. massive potion and cooked perfectly. The landlord said it's a sports bar that sells food. I would say a great food pub that has the sport on. Well done all.”

“Had such a lovely experience! The food was delicious and the service was amazing. A special mention to Alfie the bartender, who was so friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout. He really made our visit extra enjoyable. Great service and lovely atmosphere we’ll definitely be back!”

“So bad it was funny Just attempts of avoiding eye contact from upper management when meal turned in to an hour wait and a disaster.”
