About The Churchillian Cosham
On Portsdown Hill Rd in Portsmouth, The Churchillian Cosham is a hilltop pub with views over Portsmouth harbour and Gunwharf Quay, and it displays depictions of Winston Churchill. The building has two storeys, and a function room is available for groups. The menu is pub grub, with chicken wings and skinny fries, a Road to Karachi jalfrezi pizza, and a Sunday carvery where staff serve the meat and veg from a carvery station. Guests check in at a desk by the door, receive a table number, and order at the bar. Dogs are welcome, and dog ice cream is on the menu for them. The pub has been recently renovated and is under new management.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the Sunday carvery, praising the turkey as not at all dry, along with the potatoes, carrots and mac and cheese, and calling it good value. Close behind are the harbour and Gunwharf Quay views, the homely feel after a renovation and management change, and friendly staff, with one reviewer singling out the carvery chef. Others name the chicken wings with skinny fries, a jalfrezi pizza, and a wedding reception where food arrived piping hot for 45 guests. Dog owners note dog ice cream. Complaints centre on service and kitchen timing. One diner describes ordering and then being told the kitchen was closed after a long wait, leaving a mother's birthday dinner without a meal. Another found the Yorkshire puddings overdone, the gravy watery and the front desk greeting missing, and a third says the nachos were slow and short on cheese. Two reviewers suggest booking because the restaurant was full.

“Allana has been an absolutely amazing waitress to us. Her personality shone through and her customer service was impeccable. We came for the carvery and the food was exceptional too. The chef serving our food was incredibly friendly too. The whole team seem great.”

“Ive never felt so embarrassed in my life, i booked a table at the chinchilian for 5.45pm for my mother's 81st birthday she was so looking forward in dinning there because it brought so many good memories for her. When we arrived we were greeted by a young, he served us our drink and 5 minutes later we order our food only to be to told 45 minutes later the kitchen is closed, not once did any one bring it to our attention. As you can imagine my mother was so upset. So we left very hungry. It would a nice gester to be offered a free experience in the near future, i will look forward to here from you .”
