About Woodmancote Pub
Woodmancote Pub sits off the beaten track in the Emsworth countryside, pairing a traditional bar with an attached restaurant area. The kitchen runs to 41 dishes, opening with plates like Chicken Liver Pâté and Camembert, alongside a Sunday roast that includes a beef option. A set menu with a choice of courses is also offered, and vegetarian diners can choose a nut roast. Seating spans both indoors and an outdoor area for outdoor dining, while a private dining room accommodates larger groups. The entrance is step-free for visitors with mobility needs, though the building has no disabled toilet. Dogs are welcome throughout, and reservations are recommended. The pub opens daily, with the burger a recurring fixture on the blackboard alongside the wider menu.

Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast dinner emerges as the biggest draw at this country pub, with reviewers praising the trio of meats and veggie nut roast option and the overall home cooked quality, though it is also the most contested dish. Several diners commend the house burger as well, calling it cooked perfectly. Close behind the food, many reviewers single out the staff for being genuinely happy to see them, quick, cheerful and accommodating even without a reservation, and highlight the atmospheric building, quirky interior and outdoor seating as reasons to linger over a midweek lunch. Set against this, a recurring caveat centers on the beef roast: multiple reviewers describe it arriving charred or dry, with one recounting undercooked potatoes and lumpy gravy on repeat visits, and an argumentative exchange with the cook when they raised concerns. Others note a fly problem indoors, a disappointing dry sticky toffee pudding, slow service on a busy night, and one reviewer felt rushed by staff checking the time on arrival. The pub did decline to charge for two of the roasts after complaints.

“We came across this gem hidden away in the peace and quiet of the English countryside. The service was impeccable, super friendly and courteous. We ordered our food and drinks and enjoyed our surroundings, our waitress, sorry I didn't catch her name, checked in to make sure we were okay without being pushy. I can wholeheartedly recommend the house burger, an absolutely banging one at that! We will be back 1000% Warmest regards Ray.”

“Thankyou all so much for the amazing afternoon we had with you for our wedding. We can't thankyou enough the service, the food, the atmosphere. The quality of everything you did was above and beyond. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone.”

“Excellent service: all staff seemed genuinely happy to see us. The service was outstanding, and the food I ate was wonderful. The only thing that prevents a 5 star review is the very limited vegetarian menu. I really enjoyed my braised steak, but my friend was forced to cover between 3 fairly generic vegetarian options. Great beer, great coffee.”
