Customer Review Summary

Live music is what reviewers raise most at this pub, with praise for the Saturday bands, the really good music, and a monthly jazz, funk and r'n'b night that one first-time visitor plans to return for. Close behind is the friendly feel, with locals and staff described as welcoming and the atmosphere as relaxed, even on a quiet Sunday. Drinkers mention a really nice pint of Guinness, real ales and a good choice of beers, plus comfortable seating areas and a smoking area that opens onto a large seating space up some steps. The complaints are specific. One reviewer says short measures were served and that questioning it met a dismissive response from the gaffer. Another says the phone never gets answered and wants the band's style described on Facebook, since a name alone says little. One longtime visitor feels the pub was much better years ago. Artwork on the walls tempts one reviewer to buy, and another enjoys the fireplace when it is going.

“My first time, and i will definitely, be going again especially to the jazz, funk, r'n'b, night once a month”
  • Mark Oakley
“Feel really bad because it was a really good night with the music and can't fault them on that but unfortunately they serve short measures and when you question the gaffer he goes onto attack mode and riddicules you. Shame. AVOID!!”
  • John Hinkinson
“Great pub but unfortunately, they never answer their phone. Many people would like to know the type of music to be played by the band before they visit. Simple giving the name of the band doesn't tell you anything. Would be a great help if they included a brief description of their type of music on Facebook.”
  • Vic Mullan
“Popped in for a pint after work. Don’t know the area but this seems a really nice friendly pub with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Very welcoming staff and locals and a really nice pint of Guinness. Will be going back when I’m in the area working. Bet it’s a great pub for a proper night out but a bit too far for me to travel to. Must be great for locals to have such a lovely pub on the doorstep.”
  • Chemist RNS
“Amazing pub that is just outside of the town centre. Friendly locals, amazing staff and excellent drinks selection. It's lovely when they have the fireplace going too. Definitely one of the best pubs in Walsall!”
