About The Fountain Inn
On Lower Forster St in Walsall, The Fountain Inn is a pub at number 49, revamped by Backyard Brewhouse, a producer of hand-crafted ale. It operates as a free house, and the bar serves real ales and cider from a wide, changing selection of ales and beers. A real fire burns inside. The food menu is limited and centres on homemade cobs, pork pies and scotch eggs, with the usual snacks alongside. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along for a pint.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return to this real ale pub mainly for its beer selection, praising fresh, locally sourced ales, stout and cider at a good price, with one noting the range keeps changing. Staff and the landlord come up repeatedly as friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, and the locals get the same description. Food is simple and homemade, with pub cobs, pork pies and scotch eggs named, plus pizzas on Thursday, and one reviewer says the pub has no aspirations to be a gastropub. A Scalextric track with a range of cars drew praise from one visitor, and another mentions live music on Sunday afternoon and a real fire. The caveats are small. One returning reviewer found fewer ales than remembered, and another's first choice drink had run out, so they switched to something else. Even so, the staff stayed friendly, and the recurring picture is a pint pulled by a welcoming bar team.

“Great beer at brewery prices has to be one of the best pubs in Walsall. Great atmosphere. I had not been for a while and went on a warm Monday evening. The beers were as fresh as a daisy and lobely welcoming staff that are very knowledgeable. Fully recommend this place.”

“The Fountain is a lovely black country pub with Decent choice of beers and stout as well as non-alcohol it's a nice place to take your other half what ever half that is? There's live music on Sunday afternoon from about 4pm but it may be a good idea if you ring first to find out what or who is playing or take a punt and just turn up either way you will be able to have a nice pint and probably one of the most beautiful girls on this planet to serve you with the drink of your choice?”
