About The Black Country Arms
The Black Country Arms is a pub on High St in Walsall, reopened in 1987 in a building that had served as an inn since the early 18th century under the name the Green Dragon. The bar runs 16 hand pumps, including at least 3 real ciders, and a digital display lists the beer selection. The staff can also guide you through the real ales. Bar snacks include homemade cobs, such as cheese and onion, and pork pie. Wooden features sit behind the bar, and old memorabilia hangs on the walls. A dart board is upstairs, TVs show sport on both levels, and board games are available for groups who want something else to do. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return above all for the huge real ale selection, with cask ales, ciders and a digital display that helps with choosing. Staff are repeatedly described as knowledgeable about the beers, and one reviewer enjoyed a sweeter pint called "fireside" on a barman's recommendation. Close behind is the building, described as around 400 years old, with wooden features behind the bar and old memorabilia on the walls. Food gets a mixed picture. Cheese and onion cobs and pork pie are singled out as bar snacks, and a few mention good hot food. One Monday evening visitor found only cobs on offer, called them not particularly soft, and said hot food that night would have made it a five star visit. The same reviewer found the shiny leather seats downstairs slippery and the fireplace plastic. Others mention sport on the screens, a dart board upstairs, board games, dog friendly seating, and cricket on a Wednesday afternoon.

“What a beautiful pub! I have gone passed this pub but never visited, i was in the area on Monday with my husband and decided to go in, so glad we did. The pub itself is large with plenty of seating, outdoors too, beautifully decorated and immaculate, very cozy nooks to sit in, i could have sat for hours. Tons of beer choice, dart board upstairs, large tv on both levels, We will definitely be back to try some food. If you are in the area recommend a visit you won't be disappointed.”

“The Black Country Arms is the definition of a pub with history. The building has been utilized as an inn for at least as far back as beginning of the 18th century, known as the Green Dragon, and was one of the most prominent inns in Walsall. The Green Dragon eventually faded from history, but the building was reopened and refurbished in 1987. Now, as the Black Country Arms, it plays host to an incredible 16 hand pumps, including at least 3 real ciders. The pubs list of awards won in recent years is extensive, which can be found on their website. An absolute must-visit for any real ale lover, whether travelling near or far.”
