  “Unfortunately, I’ve recently had to organise two funeral buffet receptions at The Holmfield Arms for 100+ guests within just a few weeks of each other. The marquee was bright, airy and a lovely space, comfortably seating around 80, with additional guests able to stand, mingle or use the nearby outdoor seating. Having the bar, air conditioning, sound system and opening onto a side outdoor area was really useful, as was the plentiful parking for our guests. The whole booking process was simple and straightforward. I had rung around quite a few venues and found the buffet price per person very reasonable, and the £120 room hire for the day was also great value. After the first funeral, we wanted to change a few things for the second one, including some of the buffet choices, the layout and the food labelling. Laura and Jade, the Events Managers, were fantastic and went above and beyond to accommodate everything we asked for without any hesitation. They also looked after our guests with food allergies really well. They were able to choose something from a special menu and have it freshly cooked for them, which was very reassuring. The buffet was plentiful, good quality and very well received by our guests. I’d like to thank all the staff, but particularly Laura for making what was already a very difficult occasion as easy and stress-free as possible. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was handled with kindness and understanding. I would definitely recommend The Holmfield Arms to anyone looking for somewhere to hold a funeral or reception.”

  “Checked in for just a single night after travelling up from Oxford, ready for a meeting in Wibsey the next day. The welcome from the cheery receptionist was lovely after what felt like an eternal journey. Big shout out though to the young lady in the bar/restaurant (I didn't get her name but remember her saying she was a Nottingham university student). Despite the fact I didn't arrive till approx 8.45 on a Sunday night, she was very courteous and nothing was too much trouble when I asked if I could get something to eat and drink. My room was comfortable and had everything I needed, including a fan which I could really have done with as it was such a hot night, but I didn't notice till the next morning due to me being so tired. Many thanks, I will definitely stay again if in the area.”

  “The Holmfield Arms. All in all, the venue could not have been more accommodating, and we wanted to pass along our sincere compliments to your team. We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Bethany, and she was honestly exceptional from start to finish. She was warm, welcoming, and completely on the ball all evening. The drinks were perfect, service was quick even when it got busy, and she handled everything with such a calm, friendly energy. It is rare to come across someone who elevates the whole atmosphere just by being there, but Bethany absolutely does. She is a real credit to your establishment, and we will definitely be back—hopefully when she is behind the bar again. Additionally, the rest of your staff were incredibly friendly and polite. A special shout-out goes to the marquee bar staff, who did a fantastic job. The marquee itself is beautiful, the buffet food was delicious and generous, and the value for money for a budget-friendly reception could not be better. For any future hosts, the lack of an elevator to the upstairs area is worth noting, but this was explained very well to us beforehand and we had the opportunity to check the space during our initial viewing. Several of our guests also stayed overnight at the hotel. The rooms were clean, beautifully presented, and well-equipped, and the front-of-house hotel team members were all lovely. Thank you to everyone at The Holmfield Arms for making our event so memorable.”

  “Have stayed a few times.for work. Rooms are nothing fancy but clean and in good condition. Plenty of parking, pub is decent. Breakfast is nice although would suit me to start a little earlier than 7. The location in the heart of Thornes park is fantastic so plenty of places for a nice walk or run nearby.”

  “​Highly recommended! We stayed at this hotel for two nights and had a fantastic experience. The rooms were spacious, modern, and spotlessly clean, equipped with a TV and tea/coffee-making facilities. Breakfast was delicious, offering a great variety of choices to start the day. ​What really stood out was the staff—they were incredibly friendly and provided excellent service. The hotel also features a large bar with a fantastic beer selection. Outside, there is a spacious patio with plenty of seating to enjoy a drink in the sun, plus a dedicated play area for children. We would definitely stay here again!”

  “I Visited the pub with family and friends for a get together meal on a Saturday lunchtime. We got a table easily as it was quiet. The food and drinks were reasonably priced, and the staff helpful and friendly. The food was ok, with the exception of my sausages being rather tough due to being overcooked. Generally a nice pub in lovely park surroundings. I would definitely visit again if I wanted a basic lunchtime meal.”

  “Just had wedding on 9th april.. We would like to thank all staff especially Angela, Lucas and Ryan who went above and behond for making our day special food and service was great. Highly recommend the care and attention we recieved thanks to Jade as well..thank you again back soon..K and D x”

  “Met my friend yesterday Sunday 26th for lunch. It was lovely and cool in there nice cold pint and the steak and fries was absolutely beautiful. Our server Mel was lovely and polite. Fab lunch will he bk soon x”

  “Just had a lovely evening at the Holmfield Arms. 4 of us had food and listened to a really good couple of lads playing music. Katsu curry was good and fresh chilli's gave it some heat, salmon and prawns were so tasty but the star of the show for me was the gammon, with eggs and pineapple. What a thick piece of gammon cooked to perfection. The staff who served us were really good and couldn't do enough for us. We'll done and thank you to all of them.”

  “Visited last Sunday in a group of friends including families. We had a lovely time, the food was excellent and the service from Ellis and the team was excellent. There was an issue (on our side) where one small person didn't want the burger they'd ordered, due to us misreading the menu. The team gave us a replacement and knocked the cost off our bill. I had the signature burger, which filled me up for most of the day. We returned later on to use the toilets before going our separate ways, and were welcomed back by Ellis. Lovely pub, excellent food, terrific staff. Cheers”
