About The Six Chimneys
The Six Chimneys is a large, open-plan Wetherspoons pub in Wakefield, at 41-43 Kirkgate. A secluded beer garden sits behind the building beside a park, and a fenced kids' play area stays in sight of the pub, which suits visits with children. Inside, a long wooden bar serves draught drinks, world beers and hand-pulled cask real ales, and TVs show the news. Breakfast is on the menu with poached eggs on toast and a small breakfast, and brunch is available all day. Orders go through the bar or the app. Parking around the pub is limited, and a car park sits a short walk away.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply, but the strongest thread is the welcome at the bar, with several praising friendly staff, quick service even when busy, and a clean, open pub. Breakfast draws mixed reactions: one calls it perfectly cooked, while others describe a small breakfast with a missing hot drink cup and a poached eggs on toast order that arrived doubled with no refund. Drinks earn praise for a good range of draught beers and well-kept cask ales, and one reviewer mentions a deal on two glasses of wine. The large outside seating area is liked, as is a fenced kids play area in sight of the pub. Complaints centre on food and staff manner. A lasagna came out cold, then was replaced by a reheated portion too hard to cut, and a sausage and mash had too little gravy. Another diner reports a Korean chicken rice bowl and a barbecue chicken pizza served uncut, with a friend's meal cold. One reviewer also reports a curt greeting at the bar and a disabled toilet out of order.

“Whenever I move house I always hope my new local Wetherspoon is going to be good. First visit yesterday. It's really good. Lots bigger than it looks from the outside. Nice and clean everywhere. Friendly staff, great service at the bar and on the app. Everything you expect from Wetherspoon!”

“All I can say is WOW !!! I would rate this the best pub in the whole of Yorkshire it felt like a dream 🥰such a clean , friendly environment. I would like to pin point a special member of staff named Thomas ! I was quite nervous ordering some food , he made me feel so comfortable and took his time reading the menu out to me and then proceeded to carry my drinks to my table and had a lovely conversation about my day ! He even spoke to me about his Tesla and how he wants to modify it even more to make it the best whip in West Yorkshire as he said ahaha ! Can’t recommend this place anymore 🥰🥰🥰”

“Went here for breakfast and ordered two poached eggs on toast which I had ordered on a previous occasion with no problem. However, on this occasion I was served with two breakfasts, each with two poached eggs on toast. When the server eventually understood what I meant when I said I just wanted two poached eggs on toast, she said she would ask the manager to come and sort out a refund. The manager was very impolite and said that the person behind the bar had checked the order and I'd agreed. We had both said two poached eggs on toast. The manager just kept repeating the same phrase. She said she could bring me more food which I didn't want. No refund offered. No apology. Dreadful! I emailed Wetherspoons and they responded to say that the area manager will contact the pub manager to ensure things are improved. Still no refund offered.”

“★☆☆☆☆ Visited The 6 Chimneys in Wakefield and unfortunately had a poor experience. I ordered a small breakfast and a muffin, with the muffin including a hot drink. The breakfast was taking quite a while to arrive, so while I was waiting I went to the bar to get the cup for my drink. As I'd not been given one and have previously had staff bring drinks or cups to the table, I didn't think anything of it. When I asked for a cup, the staff member replied, "Yes, if you've paid for it." I found this quite rude and felt as though I was being treated like I was trying to get something for free. Of course I'd paid for it, otherwise I wouldn't have been asking. I even pointed out the staff member who had served me and suggested they check with him if there was any doubt. Another member of staff then told me that in future I needed to tell staff I wanted a drink. My view is that if an item includes a drink, staff should either ask what drink you'd like or explain the process clearly. The staff member who served me then claimed he had asked me when ordering, but I only remember asking for a small breakfast and a muffin. If he did ask, I certainly didn't hear him. I was also told to stop raising my voice during the conversation. The reality was that the member of staff wasn't standing close to me, so I naturally had to speak louder for her to hear me. At no point was I being aggressive or confrontational. The missing cup was a simple issue that could have been resolved in seconds. Instead, I was made to feel like I was trying to pull a fast one, and the whole situation was handled poorly. What should have been a straightforward breakfast ended up being an unnecessarily frustrating experience due to poor communication and customer service.”

“The six Chimneys is a large modern open plan wetherspoons. There's a good range of draught drinks, world beers and a wide choice of hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. The ones we sample were excellent condition. The service was very quick considering the pub was quite busy. The breakfast was perfectly cooked. The staff are very welcoming and there is a nice secluded outside seating area behind the pub.”
