Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to big, good-value pub food, with a mixed grill (juicy sausages, gammon, eggs) and a Christmas dinner with two Yorkshire puddings that one diner could not finish. Close behind are the canal-side setting, which several describe as scenic, and friendly staff, with one diner who celebrated a birthday noting a server who helped with the order. Also mentioned are a wider range of ales than similar restaurants, a play area with seating for parents, and a refurbishment that one reviewer found tidier and lighter. The food draws the main complaints. One reviewer called a chicken Greek salad dire, with dry, overdone, cold chicken and only two pieces of feta, and another found the onion rings came straight out of a box, though a third praised them as stacked high and crunchy. One group said the ordering app buffered, so they ordered at the bar. One reviewer noted the disabled toilet ceiling panels needed straightening.

“Not sure you can really knock this place. Beautiful setting by the canal, newly refurbished. Well priced beers, with good selection, and ridiculously cheap, good food. One disappointment for me, minor i know, was the onion rings. Straight out of a box.😲 Come on guys, you're better than that. And staff are lovely. 😃👍🍺”

“Fantastic place for food and drinks at a good price with loads of indoor and outdoor seating with a nice little play area for the kids with seating to keep an eye on them. Its been refurbished really nicely with QR code system and app to order food directly to your table, also has a lovely canal to have a walk down and see some of the canal boats . Never lets us down and well worth every trip ! Thank you to all staff”

“This is a lovely pub, right on the canal side. Staff were really friendly & helpful and the food was really nice. 5/5 score from me, and I’m slightly fussy 🤭”

“Firstly the service couldn't be faulted and the atmosphere, given it's idyllic location, also can't be faulted but the food was dire. On a bike ride I ordered a well deserved drink and "greek" salad with chicken. The salad itself was ok, although i counted two pieces of feta and not at all sure where it becomes "greek" but the chicken was AWFUL. Cheap, dry, way over done, cold, just really awful.”
