About Meadfoot Beach Cafe
Meadfoot Beach Cafe is a café on Meadfoot Sea Rd in Torquay, set above the beach with a terrace facing the sea. Seating is available outdoors on the terrace or in a small indoor area, where artwork and postcards are also for sale. The menu covers cheesy chips, toast, and a houllomi salad, alongside pizzas, homemade soup with a French stick, and ice creams, with coffee and beer also served. Food can be eaten in or taken away, and there is no need to book ahead, as the cafe operates on a walk-in basis. A step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs, and dogs are welcome on the terrace. The cafe opens daily but closes over the winter months. Pay-as-you-use toilets are located at the back of the building, giving beachgoers a practical stop beyond food and drink.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the pizza tasting like a frozen one with undercooked toppings, and another thought the halloumi salad pricey without bread. A third said no one explained ordering at the hot food counter, that a bacon bap came without butter, and that the indoor area felt crowded. A few mention that the beach is rocky and that the toilets at the back of the cafe are pay to use. One reviewer closes on a grey pre-Christmas walk, when a warm drink and a laugh with the woman serving brightened the day.

“Pizzas are not great. £16 for something tasting like a frozen job from the cash & carry with a few extras (undercooked) thrown on top. Couldn’t see pizza oven in kitchen. Lovely spot tho. Pity all these beach cafes do heavy fried English food which sully the fresh air.”

“Fantastic café overlooking the beach and out to the sea at Meadfoot. Great selection of snacks and more substantial meals, drinks, excellent coffee and ice creams all served by a wonderful team of friendly and welcoming staff, our favourite stopping off point any time of the year when walking the coast path.”
