About The Ale House
The Ale House is a small family-run pub in Taunton at 78 Station Rd, with beer on tap and limited seating. Pies are a speciality, and the kitchen cooks its food at home. The menu also includes a mixed grill served with a homemade peppercorn sauce. Breakfast is served from 10:00 am, with fresh espresso coffee available alongside it. Sport is shown at the pub too, including the Six Nations rugby and streamed cricket.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return to The Ale House mainly for the homecooked food, with breakfast the most repeated draw: one calls it among the tastiest they have had, and another notes the black pudding can be swapped for another item. Close behind are the mixed grill with homemade peppercorn sauce and the pies, which one reviewer calls a speciality, along with portions described as huge and prices as reasonable. A large buffet for a staff Christmas party also earned praise, as did drinks service that kept empty glasses collected. Several mention the friendly staff and the family run feel, and others come for sport, from the Six Nations to cricket streams, with free hot dogs and beef burgers laid out during the rugby. A small pub with limited seating, it is said to get busy. The one negative comes from a reviewer who brought two dogs after a train journey and says they were shouted at over the dogs going to the toilet in the garden. Another reviewer's closing note is that they would happily return for a drink.

“Started going to The Ale House to watch the Six Nations. A really great pub with friendly staff, hot dogs and beef burgers were served during the rugby free of charge for people to help themselves and enjoy. Run by a proper land lady who knows how to run a decent pub with a nice relaxed atmosphere.”

“I came in with 2 dogs and I wanted a quick pint after getting off the train. Don’t bother if you have dogs as apparently they are not aloud not to pee in the garden or you’ll be shouted at. I have never heard so much rubbish is all my life this pub is a joke!”

“Recently had a staff Xmas do here, and Fiona and her team went above and beyond for us! The HUGE buffet was definitely worth the money and came with a large variety of food - everyone left very satisfied. The drinks service was quick and decently priced too. Even with about 25 us of there, our empty glasses were collected regularly which we all appreciated. Special thanks to the barman with the dark brown hair who helped us deal with some strange men (who did leave). The toilets were kept clean at all times which was great!! Bonus points for the band playing too. 10/10, will definitely be back for a drink at some point soon. Thanks again Fiona and team!!!”
