About The Old Market
The Old Market is a Craft Union pub in Bridgwater, set at 8 Penel Orlieu and open daily. Live sport is shown on the premises, and the pub presents itself as a spot for match days as well as for catching up with friends. Evenings bring a different setting: there is space for a dancefloor, and the music is loud enough that it can feel like a night club from around 7.30pm.

Customer Review Summary
Low drink prices are the most common draw, with reviewers calling the pints cheap and very reasonable, and one praising the Guinness as the best outside Dublin. Others mention a friendly, welcoming crowd, fast service, a pool table, space for a dancefloor, and a veterans Sunday morning run by an ex para landlord, where one reviewer was told they could always sit in the veterans corner. Criticism is substantial, though. Two reviewers describe a rude bar manager, and one says the pub has gone downhill, reporting underage girls with no one asking for ID. Another says it turns into a nightclub around 7.30pm, too loud to hear friends. One reports staff stacking chairs and mopping with strong bleach at 10pm until they felt they had to leave. A few add that the smoking area needs larger heaters and the toilets need checking more often. One Sunday night visitor describes poor service, with a friend's pint arriving three quarters full of froth and only eventually topped up.

“This is a nice pub but when visiting the pub I got my drink but the service was very poor and a friend that I was with got his pint and it was 3/4’s full the top of his drink was full of froth so he asked for it to be topped up which the person behind the bar did eventually. Won’t go there again especially on a Sunday night.”

“What a pub it's a real jewel in the crown.I have never been made so welcome as I have in this pub.The landlord is a ex para. And they have a veterans Sunday morning where you go get advice and I have been informed that if I ever feal on my own pop in and sit in the veterans corner I am welcome anytime.old school pub with old school respect thank Paul and your staff.”

“Was a lovely pub a few months back but gone down hill since Jason left. Full of underage girls, no one being asked for id. Robin and 1 of the bar manager (not sure of name) are very rude and will make you feel as uncomfortable as you can! Wouldn’t recommend… if you want a decent night duke is the place to be”

“Yet another great pub, definitely worth starting the night there. Gets your mind ready due to its lay out and fast service. I will be there regularly now”
