Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the food, with the black truffle gnocchi and the risotto, a vegetarian dish one meat eater still loved, named as standouts. Close behind are the Sunday roast, where the beef was lean and the gravy delicious, and a Wednesday three course deal. Others mention an apple, cherry and ginger crumble and the crisps. Complimentary appetisers, including a Stilton and broccoli soup and an amuse bouche one child rated tastier than pizza, come up repeatedly. Families and large groups describe attentive, friendly service, with one party of 22 receiving every meal together and others receiving games and colouring for restless children. Dog friendly seating, a beer garden and knowledgeable wine advice also earn praise. The one caveat comes from a parent with young children, who says the outdoor area needs a gate because the road is right there and easy to reach. Several reviewers close by saying they plan to return, and one parent notes the children left with clean plates.

“Very cute, fairytale sort of pub/restaurant. Food was a 10/10, everything on the menu sounded delicious! The crisps were absolutely amazing!”

“We had a really really good meal and despite 4 children with us all having a bit of a melt down the staff still did there best to make it lovely. They brought out games and colours and as I say the food was excellent. One little note, if a gate could be put on the outside area it would feel so much safer with young children. Even though we were watching them all the time some kids are like whippets and the road is right there and easy to access. Thanks to the staff today amazing service and amazing food.”

“First time eating here tonight after hearing so many good things! We weren’t disappointed. Amazing meal, great staff and a perfect way to finish our weekend. If you live close to Marple Bridge or passing through… make sure you find this place! 👍🏼”

“Just back from The Hare & Hounds after having lovely Sunday lunch. Great service, friendly staff could not fault. Really tasty dinnner the beef was lean and gravy delicious. We were also given an appetiser of Silton & Brocolli soup really nice. We had Apple Cherry and Ginger crumble with custard and an Irish coffee. Would recommend.”

“Exceptional service from start to finish! Had a large family meal here tonight (we booked for 22 people) and cannot fault the staff. Table was booked over the phone, deposit paid, tables ready upon our arrival, drinks and food orders taken promptly, complimentary appetisers handed out which were delicious!! Children’s meals placed on the table first which is always a bonus as they could get tucked in straight away! Every single order (22 of them!) were handed out in perfect timing - nobody was sat waiting for their meal - and all meals were cooked to perfection! Staff were incredibly attentive - tables were cleared quickly ready to bring out the birthday cake. Paying the bill when you’re in a large party is always stressful however this was easily the most stress free large party bill I’ve ever had to pay! Unfortunately didn’t catch the name of the staff working this shift but whoever was working on 05/07/26 every single one of you were amazing. Also special compliments to the chefs as the food was absolutely delicious! This was our first time here and we will definitely be returning. Thankyou again! :-)”
