Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the low prices on food and drink, with a cooked breakfast and a juicy, well cooked chicken singled out as tasty. Close behind is the friendly bar staff, and one reviewer says a staff member was doing the work of three people. Guest ales and the IPA draw praise, and one reviewer notes the ales were in very good condition. Several say the pub was packed yet the food arrived hot and quickly. The praise is not universal. One diner reports three steaks arriving all fat and gristle, with the meat so raw it was inedible despite being ordered well done. Another found service hit and miss and the food only okay. One reviewer describes the pub as busy but quiet, not the atmosphere they wanted for a son's 21st, and another notes there is no parking, so cars end up on nearby streets. Even so, a weekend visitor describes the service as way faster than expected despite the crowd.

“Lovely local pub with great service! Popped in to The Wilfred Wood with family for breakfast while catching up after some time apart. Really friendly staff, very reasonable rates, and a great cooked breakfast with fresh tea and coffee. The atmosphere is super relaxed with a nice classic feel. Excellent spot for a casual meal or a pint—would definitely recommend!”

“I went here with my son to celebrate his 21st. Its a clean pub, fairly busy for early afternoon outside of a town centre or city centre. The bar staff were nice. We didn't order food, we had a few beers and left. I'm not sure I would go out of my way to go there again but that's a personal preference. It was busy but really quiet. It's not the atmosphere we were looking for. It's ok if you're looking for a quiet and cheap night out.”

“It's Spoons. It never pretends to be fancy. Good food at great prices - with a couple of coffees. And less than £9! We come in regularly and always find the staff lovely”

“Nice wetherspoons, quite busy for a Wednesday lunchtime when the weather was a mix of snow and hail. Food was hot and served quickly. Good mix of guest ales.”
