About The Village Inn
On Botley Rd in Southampton, The Village Inn is an Ember Inn pub whose menu mixes pub staples with Greek-influenced dishes. The lamb and tzatziki burger sits alongside an ultimate burger, and burgers come with sides such as pea flatbread chips or cheeseburger fries. Haddock and chips is served with a crispy batter, and sausage and mash covers the more traditional end of the menu. Sunday roasts are also on offer. The bar pours beer, including Wainwright's by the pint. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along. Drivers who park on site need to enter their car registration.

Customer Review Summary
Burgers draw the most mentions, from a lamb and tzatziki burger and an ultimate burger with pea flatbread chips to a cheeseburger with fries, and one reviewer rates the quality well above usual chain pub fare. Close behind are the ribs, haddock and chips with light, crispy batter, and an open steak sandwich. Reasonable prices and friendly staff come up repeatedly, and one diner had a beer brought promptly to the table. The complaints are specific. One longtime visitor says the menu keeps changing for the worse, citing a mushy lasagne, undercooked chips and a garlic bread that was only pitta with garlic oil, plus staff chatting behind the bar while customers waited. Another received a cold burger after a long wait in a pub that was not busy. A third found the sausages with mash burnt, then felt the reply that they were chargrilled was patronising, and declined the offer of a free pudding.

“Months ago I called in to see if they showed sport, they didn't but recommended a venue. As I am back in town I visited and ordered online a oint if Wainwrights and a Lamb & Tzatziki burger. The beer was brought promptly to my table and my cutlery was placed as well. The food was tremendous, the quality way above the usual chain pub fayre the fries were as delicious as the burger and I thoroughly enjoyed the reasonably priced meal, ut was 100% better than the over cooked burger and lukewarm chips served by a major chain which celebrates the weekends arrival. I have found my new dining spot when work sends me South.”

“Went out for a late meal and most places had stopped serving. Came across the Village Inn with 5 mins to order. Modern, clean, welcoming and polite staff. Nice music. Not too loud. Had chicken tenders for starters and the haddock and chips. Good size fish, nice light and crispy batter, plenty of chips. Tartare sauce was nice. Bargain at £12.99. Don't forget to put your car reg in for parking. Also dog friendly 🐶”

“Came here with my good friend to enjoy our regular weekly beer and burger. Saw that they changed the menu so couldn't have the regular burger so we opted for the ribs. They were so delicious I would highly recommend. Riley was our server and he couldn't do enough for us. I've not seen him here before but he will be an asset to this place. He is very friendly and attentive which is what makes this place a gem. Thank you Riley for being amazing!”

“Popped in for some food on the way home, there were 3 tables that were reserved so we sat on the empty one although the pub wasn't that busy, we ordered the ultimate burger and pea flatbread chips which I must say was delicious, but my husband burger was cold but he didn't want to complain as we had waited 40mins and was starving, no one came and sat on the other tables while we were there which was a waste, might be worth putting a time on them as not to put customers off from coming in .”
