About Samuel's Rest
Samuel's Rest is a pub on Upper Church Rd in Southampton, with a games room built around a competition standard pool table and a darts board. A jukebox and a selection of board games add more ways to pass the time. At the bar, hand pulled real ales are on tap. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come mainly for the hearty pub food, naming the venison burger with chunky chips, the lamb burger, and a ribeye ciabatta topped with melted blue cheese. Portions are described as big and generous, served hot and quickly, and a few call the prices reasonable. Close behind are the hand pulled real ales and the friendly staff, though one reviewer noted a young server who did not seem keen to chat. The large garden, pool table, jukebox and board games give people plenty to do. Visitors staying at the nearby New Place Hotel describe walking over and feeling welcomed, and one diner says the pub was welcoming with a toddler and a Border Collie. The one practical complaint is the car park, said to hold only about four cars, with some street parking as the fallback. One reviewer was warned a band would be playing and did not mind. Another liked the ribeye ciabatta enough to have recreated it at home twice since.

“I trav a lot for work and I have always made Greenking chain my go to restaurant. This is the second time I am visiting here and both experience has been cool. This time around, it was a lovely weather with fine people sitting outside fagging. Polite guys, Reasonable parking space but don't forget to register your vehicle. My spot was Table 1. Food was well made, not so much chips and the texture was good. I must mention, the mens toilet was clean and smells fresh, maybe because it was not peak period with alot of Oooz from Booz! I'll share photos next time.”
