About Shamblehurst Barn
Shamblehurst Barn is a pub on Old Shamblehurst Ln in Hedge End, Southampton, with wooden beams and a mix of ornaments and pictures in the interior. Guests can order drinks through the app, so the bar is not the only way to get a round in. The kitchen's flat breads include a lamb kofta flat bread and an Impossible flat bread, which gives the menu a meat option and a plant-based one. A mixed grill sits alongside them for larger appetites. On busy evenings, a queue forms for the bar and the restaurant.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise hot food that arrives quickly and is good for the price, with drinks ordered on the app turning up fast and a good range of non alcoholic options. Staff are often described as friendly and chatty, and one waitress held off until the end of the meal to see whether a blue light discount or the menu offers saved a table more. The pub itself is called lovely and homely. The sharpest complaints concern the kitchen. One family found the kids menu mostly unavailable, with no ice cream because of a broken fridge, no tacos and only small portions of pasta. Another party was told of an hour delay for food and left. A mixed grill arrived with the items the diner had asked to leave off, a fish dish was overcooked, and one diner was served the lamb kofta flat bread instead of the vegan impossible flat bread. Others describe a long queue at the bar with nobody serving, disinterested or rude staff, and early evening closing despite a busy room.

“WeI have visited here twice in the last couple of weeks once for a quick bite for lunch, the restaurant was virtually empty. Upon ordering our meal to be told there is 1 hour delay for food so we left with no apology forthcoming. Next visit was today with 3 children in tow although the food was somewhat ok the kids menu was virtually all unavailable no ice cream of any description with excuse of fridge broken, there was no tacos available, the only thing was very small portions of pasta left. We had a 12.30 table and they had only been open half hour would have been nice to have had an explanation before seating us. This experience does not fill be with confidence in returning such a shame the staff try their best without the professionalism and good supply of available food should definitely be addressed or maybe considering reducing your menu. “All in all not the best hungry horse went to this one as our us all one the Clock inn were fully booked. We ordered food which was ok not the greatest to be honest the kids didn't eat there's as I must say it was cold and parts over cooked. they did eat the ice-cream but that cant be made wrong ha-ha. My wife's mixed grill cam out with the bits we asked not to have on there still on there and my fish was well over cooked the attuited of the staff was shocking to say the least they took the plates away and asked was it all ok our reply was not really they said sorry to here that. so not really worried even though they could see there was food still left on the plate so clearly a problem. As for the pub it is a lovely place feels homely and think it could be really good and could have scored 5 apart from the service. plenty of parking when went which was good.”

“Came here on a lovely warm summer evening. Firstly the queue for the bar and restaurant was absolutely insane. Then, next time we tried to get a drink, there was no one serving. I’m sure it could be lovely. But they have no staff. And the staff here seem to be totally overworked and underpaid. Two stars because the staff were semi-friendly despite being overworked.”
