About The Saxon Pub
The Saxon Pub is a Sam Smith's house on Station Rd in Sheffield, serving Sam Smith's beers in a room with traditional pub décor. Mobile phones and swearing are not allowed, and notices on the tables set out these rules for anyone who sits down. No music plays, and no food is served, so the focus stays on the drinks. The pub has a separate lounge and bar area, and a large games room gives groups of players space to spread out. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Beer is the main draw at this Sam Smith's house, with reviewers praising the selection and reasonable prices, though one finds most of the Sam Smiths range awful. Close behind are the large traditional layout, a separate lounge and a cavernous games room, along with staff several call friendly. The recurring complaint is the rules. Notices on each table spell out a phone ban, and reviewers also mention no music, no swearing and no internet. One solo traveller who wanted a quiet coke missed the notice, and another says a Saturday night with about ten people shows how far the pub has fallen from its thriving past. Others note that spirits are expensive with no offers, that ginger ale and J2O are not served, that a small bottle of orange with ice felt overpriced, and that there is no food. Long-standing regulars still return, one after 20 years and another since a first drink 49 years ago.

“What a grim pub. Most of the Sam Smiths beers taste awful. Miserable ignorant landlady who never smiles especially when you interrupt her doing her knitting to serve somebody . No use of phones allowed in pub at all. The place goes quiet when nosey customers wonder who the strangers are 😄. How this place is still open amazes me as it must be running at a continuous loss.”

“Nice pub tradition décor. Lovely staff and a good selection of beer. My own fault I didn't notice but phones are not allowed to be used. I get how it encourages interaction but I was traveling alone and just wanted a quiet coke and sit down for 20min.”
