About Elmwood Farm - Farmhouse Inns

Elmwood Farm - Farmhouse Inns is a pub and carvery on Old Colliery Way in Sheffield. The carvery runs table-side, with staff bringing round a choice of gammon, turkey and beef along with sides such as roasties, mash, carrots, parsnips and red cabbage, rather than a self-service counter. Beyond the carvery, the menu runs to 20 dishes, including the Signature Carvery Burger, Fish and Chips, and steak. The dining room has a step-free entrance for visitors with mobility needs, and outdoor seating extends the space for those who want to eat outside. Free Wi-Fi is available to customers on site. The pub opens daily, and reservations are recommended given the table-service format. Those who prefer to eat elsewhere can order takeaway or have food delivered.

Customer Review Summary

The carvery is the clear draw, with reviewers repeatedly praising the choice of meats (gammon, turkey, beef), roast trimmings, and one diner singling out the red cabbage as especially good. Close behind, the buffet-style breakfast gets called out for its value, with make-your-own coffee, free refills, and a toaster included. Steak is more mixed: one visitor found it perfectly cooked compared to a tougher experience elsewhere, while another reviewer describes a long wait for a medium sirloin with pepper sauce despite the pub being quiet. Reviewers also highlight the staff's handling of dietary needs, with one describing a lactose-free dessert arranged off-menu for a family member. Portions draw comment too, with one diner's son struggling to finish a standard carvery plate. Several reviews mention returning for repeat visits and family occasions, including a 70th birthday celebration.

I usually go to the Doncaster Farmhouse, but I came here for a family occasion and was very impressed. I previously had the steak at the Doncaster branch and it came out like leather, but here it was perfectly cooked! The service was …

We visited on 20th June, a spur of the minute decison. Although reasonably busy, the dining area was calm and quiet. We noted several tables were reseerved but found a suitable table quite easily. The dining area was clean and tidy, despite being busy. My wife is lactose intolerant, and very self -conscious about this, especially when eating out, but Rachel, the duty manager who took our order, quickly put her mind at ease, and was able to reassure us both about our meals. The meals were served in good time, and were nicely presented, the food was hot and tasted great, unlike some places we've visited. When I asked about a possible dairy free dessert for my wife to enjoy, I was told that there was an option that my wife could have, with no issyes, despite.9it not being on the regular menu. Becca, the young lady serving was happy to tame my order, and pass on our requirements with no fuss or drawing any attention to our situation. A mention to Jack, one of the front of house staff, who was very helpful, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. All in all, a lovely time, good food, friendly atmosphere, 3 great staff in Rachel, Becca and Jack, (the only staff we haf any dealings with!) we'd definitely recommend, and will absolutely be back soon!
