About The Rose and Crown
The Rose and Crown is a pub on Harefield Rd in Rickmansworth, reopened under new ownership after a refurbishment. Rustic, countryside-style decor surrounds the bar, which keeps traditional pub features. Some tables and the dining area look out over the garden. The kitchen serves a roast, and the menu mentions chicken pie and nut roast. Live music and pizzas are part of the pub's events, and children receive a free colouring pack. Families also have a large beer garden with a children's play area. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the outdoor space, a big beer garden with covered seating and a children's play area, where certain tables let parents watch the kids. Many tie it to the refurbishment and new ownership, describing a rustic, cosy inside and a pub with life and atmosphere again. Food comes close behind. The Sunday roast is called excellent, and diners name a chicken pie with a good portion size, a nut roast, a chicken Caesar salad and a sausage roll. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, quick and attentive. One reviewer calls the ice cream sundae the best but a bit pricey. Another suggests a reservation, and one mentions a free colouring pack for children and plans to return for the Friday live music and pizzas. The main complaint is dessert. One reviewer took a star off because no custard was served with the crumble or sticky toffee pudding, and said several waiting staff told them customers raise it often.

“We dropped by here with 4 adults and 4 kids. Because it was local to the lakes and park down the road. The pub is really well-presented and cosy. If you can get the right tables you can watch the kids play in the garden. The chap who looked after us was brilliant and great with the kids. Menu is really well thought out for all diets great range of drinks. It’s nice when you find pubs like this still in what can be a real hit and miss sector. 100% recommend.”

“Cannot fault the service. Staff were so welcoming and attentive. Lovely, cosy pub-feel. The best nut roast I have had in a long time. Really enjoyed our lunch. My daughter particularly enjoyed her playtime outside afterwards. Recommend a reservation.”

“First visit since new management and refurbishment. Outside area is beautifully done, lovely covered seating area and planting. Inside pub looks great, it's still the same pub with all the proper pub features and bar, but now has a gorgeous colour palate and decor. Very dog friendly. Sunday roast excellent. We did not order dessert for one reason only- no custard served! So a star taken off. Several waiting staff said that this is raised by lots of customers- crumble and sticky toffee pudding should have custard as an option.”
