About The Broughton Inn
The Broughton Inn is a pub in Preston at 502 Garstang Rd, with a separate dining area and bar area following a recent refurbishment. The menu is the same in both areas, so guests can eat in the restaurant or at the bar. Roast dishes include a lamb rump roast, and Sunday lunch is served. The kitchen also turns out a katsu chicken rice bowl, and sticky toffee pudding is on the dessert list. Neck oil is on draught at the bar. The pub opens daily. Dogs are welcome, and the team hands out complimentary treats to them.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the katsu, a chicken rice bowl one reviewer calls delicious and a dish another finds flavoursome with perfectly cooked veg. Close behind are the sticky toffee pudding, named by two parties, and the roasts, including a trio of meats and a lamb rump, with a Mother's Day Sunday lunch called superb. Others praise the kanthari paneer tikka, pork belly in kerala green curry sauce, calamari, skewers, and a chicken burger one calls the best they have had in a pub. The refurbishment draws approval for a fresher restaurant area and a bar that kept its character. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, and food is said to arrive piping hot even when busy. The main complaint comes from one diner who found service poor on a busy Saturday: after one drink each nobody came back, and after a long wait with the dessert menu they paid at the desk and left. Another reported a missing portion of stuffing and a drink mix-up, both fixed quickly. One birthday diner's camembert arrived with a candle in it.

“Went last Saturday, food was really good but the service was terrible. Maybe due to it being busy? Not sure, but to put it into perspective, we had been told there was someone new serving us, so go easy on him. No problem with that, and in actual fact, he was the most attentive of the evening! We had one drink each, as no-one came back to us after we'd finished the first one. And when the waitress asked us if we would like a sweet, we said yes. When she came back with the menu, she was so involved with talking to someone else, we couldn't ask for a drink! Sat for 20 mins, no-one came back, so went to the desk, paid for what we had had and left. So missed out on drinks, sweets, and probably a coffee too. The place had been refurbished and looked good. Poor service let everything else down. Would we come back...? Maybe.”

“I’ve eaten here twice since the refurb and can’t recommend it enough. The restaurant area looks so much fresher, whilst the bar area hasn’t lost its character. The tweaks to the menu are welcome, especially the skewers. We were looked after by Clarissa and Annie who were fantastic, as were all staff we had contact with. Will be back soon!”

“Love the refurbishment, it's beautiful. Service was excellent as usual - super friendly and attentive. The calamari were perfect, katsu dish very flavoursome with veg perfectly cooked and my husband loved his burger. Thank you and good luck with the full reopening.”

“This was our first visit to The Broughton Inn and we're happy to say it won't be our last. We booked for 6pm on Saturday and there was plenty of space when we arrived (although things started to get busier around 7pm.) The pub side was busy and we made our way to the dining area; a gentleman greeted us and quickly showed us to our table. From there everything was perfectly timed, from being asked for our drinks to our ordering our meals. Food delivery times were all perfectly managed and our lovely waitress (I think she was called Francesca) was attentive and checked everything was to our liking. We had the chicken with bacon and mushroom (from the tea time treats menu) and shin beef with mash and veg. Finishing up with sticky toffee pudding and an apple & blackberry crumble with custard. Accompanied with a very reasonably priced bottle of wine. We were in and out in around 75 minutes and couldn't fault anything. We relayed our feelings to our waitress and said we would be returning soon. She advised they were shortly going to be closing for refurbishment for a month. So now we're even more keen to return. Full marks guys, we look forward to seeing you again after your refurb.”
